I replaced an engine in my friend's 2001 Infiniti G20 a couple weeks ago. It is going into limp mode, revs are limited to 2800rpm and about 30 mph. EGR code keeps popping up. All connectors are tested and tight, have tried 2 different EGR valves and valve housings. FSM describes these symptoms to T with the EGR being bad.
I don't know if the transmission issues we are having could also cause EGR code and the engine running in limp mode? Basically I am a retard and when we bolted the trans onto the new engine, I didn't realize the cam nobes on the spline shaft were even there, and they weren't lined up properly with the crankshaft. I thought it was an internal snap ring (or similar) keeping the trans about a 1/4" away from the block, so we proceeded to tighten the bolts thinking it would pull the transmission on into place. Well it did, along with 2 loud POP noises inside the trans. We took the trans off, saw the cam nobes, put the trans back on properly. A friend that works at a dealer told me we screwed up a x???x pump in the trans, causing the fluid leak out of the passenger axle shaft and the major reverse slippage.
We know the trans needs rebuilt or replaced (expensive mistake dammit) but could this be causing the car to run in limp mode and/or possibly throwing an EGR code?
Thanks for any input you guys have (anyone have a g20 auto trans on the cheap
