Hey you guys......I am kind of new to the FWD SR20DET thing because I am used to 240s but I think I might end up with something else......I wanted to know what was needed for the SR20DET swap in a Infinity G20 because I have a thing for those cars........I know that the motor and transmission and the wiring and everything is needed, but are there other things needed to get it running???? Is the swap similar to one in a 90 up Sentra???Thanks!!! And I also wanted to know if anyone was running the top mount ICs from GTIRs on their FWD SR20s.

You just need the motor, harness, and ECU. Stock transmission will bolt up and hold up unless you put a lot of power down.

TMIC has been done lots of times, it's fine, tends to heatsoak more, which is why I lean toward FMICs, but whatever.

It's pretty much the exact same as the Sentra. You're swapping and SR for an SR, so it's quite straight forward.

Infiniti is spelled with an "i" and not a "y" just so you know.

Thank you and I knew that it was spelled with an "I" but I was in a hurry...............So its a direct swap???like you dont have to do anything dealing with the wiring and heater hoses and raidiator hoses???and what about AC???

Since the stock transmission can be used, can I buy a GTIR SR20DET and use the stock transmission???Has anyone ever done this before???

I believe rad hoses and such are in the same locations too, of course the new motor will have additional stuff for the turbo, so you may have to do a little fiddling but that all comes from the block, so should be straight swap there too.

I'm unsure about the AC, I know it'd be easier to chuck it, but it may bolt right up.

You could run a GTi-R engine as well. You'd be more likely to break the transmission, but given that the stock ones have been known to hold up well over 250hp, nearly the 300 range, I think you're alright til you up the boost.

Maybe look into getting a B15/P11 USDM SR20DE transmission or using the GTi-R unit.

Get an Avenir or u12/13 motor. Don't fool with the GTiR, especially if you are tuner challenged. The stock transmission will hold enough power for it to be streetable and to make you think, damn this is stupid fast. If you want A/C, you can keep it, especially if you live in hot summer climates. The A/C hose will probably need to be tweaked a little so that it doesn't rest on the manifold. Don't ask how I know. Cheap FMIC are all over the place, get a Johnny Race Car FMIC, cost you less than $200, then have some piping fabricated to fit your needs.

Yeah RED, he and I discussed this on AIM a bit and after a bit of research I discovered many people having problems with GTi-R swaps.

Basically, if you have the money and time to bear that kind of a headache, then it's a good swap. But for simplicity's sake, a BB or Avenir (I lean toward Avenir personally b/c of the ball bearing turbo) may be a better option. You can upgrade to a GTi-R turbo later on too and make roughly the same power.

You can use the stock ecu with a SAFC in the G20 or Sentra.
