G20 sr20de to sr20det swap

A great resource for Nissan Sentra, Infiniti G20, 200sx, Pulsar, NX1600, NX2000, Tsuru, Primera and Sunny owners.

Okay, I just bought a G20 for $600 with great interior/ body/ parts. but the motor is on its last thread so I thought I would turn it into a project car. Right now is has the stock sr20de motor mounted to a stock 5-speed transmission. Since I am replacing the motor anyways I figured I would upgrade to the sr20det. I am not looking for outstanding power right now but still want the extra boost. Can I do the swap using the existing ECU and transmission? I found a few articles that seemed like I could but nothing precise. I appreciate any feedback. Thanks

Yes you can do the swap with the existing ecu and transmission. You will need a piggyback system for the ecu or have it reprogrammed. I would upgrade the clutch and flywheel as well.

Ok so I have done more research and think i have most things figured out. I would like to get the Avenir W11 through Tiger Japanese with the intercooler kit coming from jgy. Does anyone know if the sr20det that is offered for $650 of Tiger is the Avenir with the T25bb or T25g turbo? Should be getting it going in about a month if all goes well and I can get this figured out.

If it's a W11, it's the ball bearing. If it's a W10, it's a scroll bearing.

I'd do some reading up on JGY before you dive into this one too.

I personally wouldn't buy anything from JGY nor would I recommend them to anyone. I would get a ebay intercooler and have some piping fabricated. The intercooler I just installed is made my CX Racing and the specs are as follows. Core size is 20x12x3, from end tank to end tank the size is 27x12x3. You will not get any bigger of an intercooler in there and will need some fabrication to do so. I have to do a write up, but it is fairly straight forward.

As far as the ecu goes, I would get a realtime ecu from Calum Johnson.

Thanks for all the help, I really am more of a newb than I thought. I will keep staying away from jgy in mind.

Any reason why to stay away from JGY ? Just curious since I'm planning to do the same swap on my b13
