well i have a 96' 200sx se-r and my brother got a 1992 (i think) G20 and 3 weeks after he got the car he was drinking and driving and fliped the car so its totaled, but the motor is perfect and it has less miles then mine, so i have the car at my friends shop and we are gonna pull it, then rebuild it and turbo it, but what im wondering is, is this going to be a direct swap? will all the sensors be the same, im guessing its the same motor (well i know for a fact that its an SR20DE it just has an infiniti valve cover) im hoping that i can pull my motor and put the infiniti in and plug all the sensors back in without modding anything, is this so?

also, does this sound like a good idea to you guys (and girls) or should i just buy a blue bird and say nuts to the G20?

thanks in advance, Tyler

Interesting.

It should swap right in, but there is a difference in the motors. The 96 is OBDII, which (I think) is when Nissan switched to a low-port design. That really shouldn't matter in swap terms.

As far as turbo, since the motor is free, it's not a half bad idea to just turbo what you have. You could buy a GTi-R engine or the like if you really wanted to for a decent price (probably not far from the cost of a good turbo kit). I want to say a Japanese motor will run you $3500 ish, while a turbo kit of equal type (GT25 or 28 kit) will run you $2000-2500.

Your call, personally if the G20 engine is pretty good mileage I'd do it that way rather than deal with another engine from another country.

There are a couple turbo kits. I like the JGY Customs T25 kit (good for 200-210whp) at $1800 + ECU, and that's what I plan on getting. There's another T25kit by Turbo Specialties.

More power? GT28RS kits run $3400 I believe from JGY. A T03 or T04 kit will be somewhere between the two (keep in mind that the T0s have a different design than the GT25 and 28, the most noticeable part besides the power difference being in the wastegate, which is external for the 25 and 28 and internal for the T0 I believe).

Depends on what you want man. Since mine is a daily that will see bits of track time and plenty of backroads excursions, I'm shooting for the cost-effective and, IMO, more reliable (since it's 10-12psi) GT25 kit. If you're planning on a more track-oriented approach, maybe you want the T0 or, even better, the GT28RS. JWT also offers a GT30 and I believe a GT35, but you'll have to do the kit yourself, those are just turbos. Take into consideration the kind of lag you'd get from a bigger turbo (which is why a LOT of SR20DE+T owners opt for the GT25 and 28 with practically no lag time).

Enjoy!

The swap will be relatively straight forward. You will have to extend the wires on some of the sensors since you are going from a lowport to a highport motor. The highport motor is also a bit more powerful due to the intake cam. Once you get he swap done, you need to find a g20 ecu years 94-96 and swap it with your 200sx ecu. The g20 ecu raises the rev limiter from 7100 to 7500 and eliminates the fuel cut as well.A used t25 turbo kit can be had for around 1k, maybe even less. That comes with turbo, manifold, injectors, tmic and downpipe. A GTir T28 kit can be had for around 1200-1400. A ecu retune is recommended with the obdII ecu's.

Blue Bird sr20det will run you around 1700 plus shippingGTiR sr20det will run around 2000 plus shippingEither route you go wheter de or det, you will need a clutch, bigger exhaust and some way of controlling the fuel.

As far as JGY goes, I'm no longer a fan of his for certain situations that have come up in the past few months.

Hey Red, where can a complete GT25 or GTi-R GT28 kit be found? I've seen manifolds, turbos, intercoolers, ecus, etc in one or two pieces at a time, rather than the whole kit.

Might I ask what happened with JGY? Email would be sufficient (I've been looking hard at their kit, though I'm still a year or so out of turbo time).

T25, manifold, injectors and intercooler for $1050. You would need a downpipe to complete the kit and some way of tuning for the extra fuel.

Also check out the buyer/seller feedback for JGY.http://sr20forum.com/showthrea...stoms

Definately turned me away for good. Plus his people skills have always been horrible since the beginning.
