G20 RB swap?

A great resource for Nissan Sentra, Infiniti G20, 200sx, Pulsar, NX1600, NX2000, Tsuru, Primera and Sunny owners.

Not sure what year my buddie's G20 is, but he is very determined to install an RB motor in it. I did as much research as I possibly could, but i'm convinced that nobody (on the internet anyway) has done this at all. Any swap is possible with time and money, but is there any information you guys could give me on this? I already asked him why not a SR20DET swap, but he is very determined to get an RB into this car. Any input is appreciated, thanks.

That would require conversion of the entire suspension and drivetrain for the RWD RB.

If he wants a 6cyl, a VQ35DE is a much easier choice, though it'll still take custom mounts and some ECU/wiring work.

anything is possible with a tube chassis lol

and considering the length of a g20's nose and the length of an rb... anything is possible if you dont mind driving from the back seat...

things you should hit your friend with like a rock to the forehead:

theres no FWD RB drivetrain, so he's talking about retooling his entire chassis to make the car RWD (god forbid hes talking about AWD)

the weight distribution from putting a much heavier inline 6 in place of an SR20 into his car is going to be pretty front heavy

the frame rails and engine mounts on his G20 wide for a tranverse mounted drivetrain so very pretty crafty adapters are going to need to be made, and the areas strengthened to deal wth the change in torque loads (a transverse engine rocks front to back, not side to side)

hes going to have to cut his firewall out, move it back, and open it up for a transmission tunnel... if he does enough chopping and gets rid of enough of the hvac and stereo system he might be able to fit the stock dashboard back in... maybe

if he has enough money to attempt something like this... tell him to just buy a couple skylines and maybe for good measure a pulsar GTi-R

Eh, just let him stay confused.

There's just no room for discussion of this at all. If he had the slightest clue he'd already know the 2 most important issues:

G20 is FWD, RB's are RWD engines.

G20 had a 2.0 4-cyl, the RB is a 6 (and quite long).
