So I'm only 16 and I really don't know much about cars.I just bought a 1992 Infiniti G20 from my friend and there was 3 things I needed to fix before I should drive it.

Explanation: Something is wrong with the power steering. It is not the pump (that is fine), but the fluid leaks and then burns up (which causes smoke... not so hot).

So is it the hose I need to replace??

The leak is probably in the hose, but you really need to follow the path of the leak to find it. Look for a puddle or some sign in the engine bay as to where the leak is coming from.

Put a bottle of power steering conditioner in the PS fluid reservoir to minimize the leak(s) as best you can and keep fluid in your trunk/back seat until you get a chance to fix it.

The Powersteering hoses commonly leak on the G20, usually near the pass strut tower.

You might want to stop by g20.net, they'll help you out quite a bit with your problem.
