I'm looking at ideas for a future project car, and wanted to seek some knowledgeable opinions. I love the G20's, an ex had a 93 auto; I can only imagine how much fun a 5 speed would be. My questions are:

1. How is the aftermarket support? I'm sure the engine has all kinds of goodies available, but what about suspension, exhaust, brakes, etc?

2. Does the G20 share any components with any other nissan/JDM vehicles?

3. Are there any years I should avoid/prefer when looking, and why?

Thanks to all,

Scott

I'll let 1QckSER expound on the more detailed information about the chassis & suspension, but basically as far as drivetrain goes, you have a 91-98 Sentra SE-R with the venerable SR20DE engine.

A brief list of stuff from my old SER would include:

Intake PlaceRacing.comCams, ecu tuning, injectors, NOS kit, turbo managementJimWolfTechnology.comHeaders HotShot.comHi flow cat RandomTechnology.comUnderdrive pulleys unorthodoxracing.comExhaust (for your car there's only one US fitment) Greddy.comSprings Eibach.comstruts KYB.comTurbo system turboneticsinc.com

Like I said, that's a short list. If you find one with a blown engine, don't worry, the Japanese market ones are around $600.

Want a limited slip diff? Swap in one from a 91-97 SE-R.

My SR20 put 250hp & 270 tq to the wheels with all the goodies & a 100 shot of NOS. Stock internals, 80k mile engine.

Want more power? A Bluebird (Our Altima) comes with a turbo version of the same engine, swaps are common. There's a couple different levels of those, too.

2) The P10 & P11 chassis don't share much with a B13, B14.

3) If you're looking for a second car kinda thing, a safe bet would be a pre-96. I don't know about the G20's, but on an SE-R the 96 was one to avoid, if only for a low power issue suspected to be from the cams.

If you like the one your ex had, you'll love a 5spd version of your own.

Happy hunting.

This should help with your suspension questions:http://www.g20.net/forum/showt...22364

A new engine should run around $450 not including shipping, but you can also swap in the sr20det or sr20ve.

Limited slip was also available in the touring models from 94-96 so you wouldnt need to swap in one if you can find a touring model. The touring models also come standard with the black touring seats every is after.

Its been a week with all new suspension componets on the G20, and I must say I love it, the handling is very crisp, the steering responce is right on, and the ride is good for a lowered car, my current setup is Tien S-Tech springs, KYB GR2 shocks, Koni progressive bump stops, Altima strut bar, and some new suspension bushings, If your older yet still want to have a fun lil 4cyl with some decent luxury items then a G20 is the way to go, the car does not look ricey at all and the aftermarket becuase of the SE-Rs is strong, If you can find a pre-96 like Heavy siad you will look at spending $3000 thou for a clean one, horsepower is easy to come by becuase the SR20DE respondes the mods like you wouldnt believe, if you can find a T model like mine then it comes with limited slip either in the manual or automatic, however if you need an axle replaced in the auto find a good rebuilder because they are rare, I think if you get one you wont be sorry, its a great lil car to play around with and still wears the INFINITI badge, go to G20.net and start searching, good luck, one more thing , stay away from the 96s, they had the same problem as the 96 SE-Rs, they are slow, brake upgrades can be via a SPEC-V stock setup, or the Spec-V Brembo option, exhaust are not really a problem either, im running a 2 1/4 setup with a Primera manifold and 2 1/4 downpipe, also 91 SE-R intake cam and a 2003 Sentra cold air intake. Here is mine with the new suspension. wrong pic, hear ya go
