I have one. They are decently acurate if you have stock suspension, don't launch hard, and take the time to zero them in.

Aries,

I don't know what Gtech you used but I think Gtech Competition Pro is pretty accurate given the proper weight is entered and it is properly calibrated (pre Aug 2003 models). Many people at G35driver.com took their comp gtechs to dragstrips and were pleasantly surprised how close the times were to what they actualy ran. Most of them had modified suspension and were launching hard. Again this can be only true for 13+ sec cars and not your V8 monsters.

Here’s official discrepancy data:http://gtechpro.com/accuracy.html

got a competition and i love it...

0-30, 0-60, 1/4 mile, 60-0, g-force, horsepower, torque, and data-logging to boot.

I'd say accurate enought to do some backyard "tuning" and dialing.

And they work with sensors. They sense acceleration, and do all the calculations to get the numbers. Quite simple math really...

Nightfall,

It is a very good tool if you don't have time/money for dragstrip/dyno and constantly mod your car and want to see what this or that bolt-on netted you at the wheels.

Did I mention it also looks cool.

this is true, I've even gotten fairly acurate readings on vettes and on a viper, but when a car drops into the 1.6 or lower 60' range, the gtech comp pro gets off by a lot as it doesn't know what to do with sudden g-force readings like that.

if your car is that fast you could probably afford to go to the strip/dyno to tune it
