Post

I've noticed that many of our members, new and old, have started to post in the "general chat" forum instead of our dedicated ones.

So for a friendly reminder for the NICO vets and the newbe's, please try and post in the forum that most resembles your question. I don't mind if you post in the proper forum, then post another thread with a link in the general chat. I would just like to see the traffic in the right areas.

Be sure to browse the other forums from time-to-time...I've moved some threads to the proper section

^ Also very true and obvious. However, the problem is that folks post in General because that is where we/they hang out AND they know their post will be seen and answered quickly.

So, The PROBLEM is that people do not frequent the other forums as often......UNLESS, they have an issue/reason to post there.

SO, what is a viable solution? What will get people to frequent those other forums?

I've made one suggestion, surely there are other solutions....

we are creatures of habit...

everyone has become accustomed to seeing stuff in the general forum so they never look anywhere else.

Mods, i think you need to stay on top of what should be in other sub-forums and make the appropriate moves when necessary.

Post a link in GC to the other forum's thread. General chat posts can be about anything, but we'd like to see the sub-forums used more.

is there a way to set up the forum so when you log in it shows you a list of all the new topics within the g forum so that you can see what ones you havent looked at. and when you look at it for the first time it takes it out of that list.

See how the arrows are yellow? Those are threads that I haven't seen since my last login to NICO. I know it's not the greatest warning system, but it's bettrer than nothing.

Joe, Understood! Thanks!

Beaner,I never noticed them yellow arrows ...

What if the posts with ZERO replies stayed at the top of the forum until they get at least ONE reply......(I still likes a ticklier on the General )

What if a post to one of the Tech forums generates a FYI post to the General.

Or, it generates a FYI post to a STUCK Thread in General which will turn the arrow YELLOW for us...... I think this is my favorite suggestion so far.

I guess I am completely glad that I don't ever have anything to contribute to other forums other than the General
