This is just FYI and might have been widely known. But in my searches, I couldn't find direct references.

So I have two P0325 codes Knock Sensor 1 Bank 1 or Circuit 1 failure. MIL or check engine light is off. I was nervous about a possible failure of SMOG check which can force me to spend gazzillion dollars for knock sensor replacement (I have read farfetched's instructions on how to do the replacement without plenum removal - in any case the cost would be $400 or more).

Smog check came out passed. So KS isn't a critical issue for Smog. But if for any reason the MIL was on, I m sure my SMOG would have failed.

thanks a lotPhalCalifornia Car 1997.5 Q45 with 165.5K Miles. Religiously flush all fluids every 2yrs.Almost all stock. Gives 18 city and 21 long-drives. 91 octane from 76Pioneer AVIC-Z2 Entertainment System (7inch Screen with all connections - ipod, Hard drive, navigation, XM, DVD...)Only big item replaced: OEM Alternator from Infiniti. Two issues showing up intermittently: (1) very occassional 'tumble' while on idel and when hot. (2) only when on long long drives (100Mile+) and on mountainous roads, and on orverdrive, I think the car at times struggles with the torque coverter lock-up - I see the RPMs go up (disengagement of TCLU and then re-engagement etc.).

The secondary O2 only monitors the converters and provides a little fine trim. But it should be changed if it comes back on after a reset. Best replaced in pairs so duty cycle matches. Same with KS and harness. But misfire will also set a KS code, so address the former first.

Do you have an auxiliary ATF cooler? If not, get one for mountain driving. When there, one must hold rpm about 500 higher than VH45DE. Read Skibane's excellent article on bypassing radiator coke can heat exchanger. Several threads on stumble problem and how to fix.
