Just thought I'd share this bit of information that some of you might not have known about.

Everyone's "flat black" window pillars is covered by vinyl; if you were to open your door and look at the upper edge, you will notice the edge of the vinyl stickering.

Basically, if you were to peel if off, it will be the same color as your exterior paint.

This wouldn't really make much of a difference on darker colored cars with the dark slate or super black, but I'm sure it'll be a nice contrast on the white, silver and red.

Been Know Bout this.....I had this done on my 03 years ago when I had the car done up. I just don't know if it'll look good on a 2 door though.

**note** the spinners were powder coated white right after this as well

those pillars should only be black. anycolor on those pillars are cheap looking, especially when they are chrome.

I think it would be OK on a black car. This would just make them gloss black instead of flat black. Also keep in mind, that overlay goes all the way up to the mirror on the top of the door, and not just up the rear side. As far as looking good.. its in the eye of the beholder, black I say go for it. Dark slate.. MAYBE.. no other color could pull it off.

This kind of reminds me of the big debate about the B-pillar on the Camaro 5th gen when it was still a prototype on the CamaroZ28.com forums lol. After all the debating its going to be un-noticeable and seemelss much like the AC has from the front window to the rear from the outside. Its just how a 2 door should be done!

Funny thing here...when us Calgary folk met up, fiftytseng noticed that my black coupe didn't have that vinyl on the door/pillar...it was just the gloss paint!

I noticed mine did today. Question is, is the paint underneath clearcoated and pretty, or what?

Yes, clear coated and pretty. The whole door would be painted at one time, and thats why the vinyl is added later. To save on cost(time) of doing a two-tone paint on the doors

I have a super black 2.5 SL sedan....your telling me the door pillers have a vinyle sticker on them basically and that i could go peel that right off and it will shine like the rest of my car? Is that what i am getting from this? Thats very interesting. I am kinda scared to peel it off though incase it doesnt look like the rest of the car.

Edit: I ran outside to look at mine and noticed they are already shinny. There is only 1 that isnt. It is the small pillar on the back door. Can that one come off?
