Sadly my car is in the body shop getting the rear bumper replaced. I was rear-ended so I'll be posting pix once the claim is finalized and when I get my car back

I have to wait to post the details.....

BTW...I just posted my aftermarket wheels and springs in the classifieds....first come/first serve for local buyers....

I finally put my stock wheels back on -- refinished.

here's the link to the classifieds:

Damn bro, sorry about your car, hope that you're ok and good luck with the sales.
Time to get the 08+ sports rear bumper to match the front on that insurance claim.

Sorry to hear that, hopefully nobody got hurt...also hopefully you'll be happy with bodyshop.

Wangtang: I dont think the 08+ rear bumper will fit on 06-07 due to different body lines trunk and most importantly tail light shape, mounting points may be different aswell even with modifications. But I maybe wrong and anything is possible with $$$

true...the 08 rear bumpers won't fit my 06....I thought about that...I think the taillights are more narrow/sleek on the 08's.

I'm going to place orders for the Serona side skirts (the OE style aero kit)...not sure how long the body shop will have my car so maybe they can paint both the new rear bumper along with the side skirts...

So Enterprise swapped cars for me and put me in the Kia Optima GDi...that thing is really easy on gas.

NIce.

I must be one of the few people who really doesn't like the 08+ bumper with the 06/07 areo sides...to me the lines of each just don't flow together well...ah well, just my opinion.

Good luck on getting everything in order.

it's all good :bigthumb: I think I've only seen one other M with the 08 bumper and 06/07 aero sides, and I felt the same until my body shop guy told me he can customize a front lip for the 08 bumper that will incorporate the lines of the aero kit...I'm still going back and forth if I want the front lip to be done in carbon fiber or the same material(fiberglass) & same color (diamond graphite)... :gotme

I'd still look at other options though, but currently the 06/07 aero sides have a good line to them... The other kits I've researched (from Japan) are waaaay too much for me to put on an 06 M...

@Partysan - I know it doesn't fit but some member on here Se@ttleM35s claim to have bought both front and rear but have not heard from him since

@CPJ LB - Just a thought since its an insurance claim, obviously since you got rear ended, I'm sure the other insurance is paying for your damages.

I hear ya...I guess I'll have to wait to see how they pull the two (the sport bumper and the lip) together way too much in terms of price? Or way too much in terms of looks?

Bought or not, he's going to pay a pretty penny to make it fit...for all that he could've bought my skirts and rear bumper lol...it'll get you close to the look of the 08 sport body...but be different enough to stand out from other M's...just my opinion as always :gapteeth:

**UPDATE**

ok, I got my ride back yesterday --- Thank goodness!!!! almost 1.5 weeks of rental car
torture is over

I have to agree, we get spoiled by the luxury, comfort, driving experience of our M's...so to NOT have what you're accustomed to is very humbling.... I think my biggest issue was getting onto the fwy in the rental car and not having the "power" to merge with confidence -- scary :ohno: LOL....

Anyways, I'll try and get some pix of the car so I can post some before and after shots of the rear bumper...the body shop did a great job with the color match and per my request, they painted the lower portion of the rear bumper diamond graphite as well -- originally it was that "black" faded look.

It's been really windy and dusty here in So Cal over the past few days, so I'm eager to get the car cleaned up...

BTW, I picked up a second set of spacers for the fronts -- this set of H&R has a special black coating so it blends well with my front rotors -- with the black rotor hat

I got to meet Steve Millen -- owner of Stillen -- when I picked up the spacers yesterday...he was very cool.

I got some pix of the car today….you can see the difference with the original rear bumper - how the lower portion of the bumper is colored with that faded black look…now I have it uniformed color matched…

Fortunately there was no structural damage to the car, just the bumper cover…it really took the hit.

Nice! The wrecked bumper doesn't look that bad. Good thing too. If it's a hard enough hit it could through your entire rear end out of alignment.

^^thanks guys...I went with the same body shop that did work on my wife's car -- she has a black SUV with some metallic in the paint and they did a good job of color matching, so I was confident going back to the same shop -- diamond graphite is a tricky color to match...

@ TXT: are you planning to do any upcoming mods to your car??...I like the tint job you have.

That looks brilliant, mate ! They did a fab job of matching a difficult paint! Nice touch having the bottom border painted as well. It makes the bumper look more uniform and it adds a nicer contrast to the exhaust tips. So glad everything worked out so well.
Cheers

CPJ,
Just planning on dropping it first with some camber bolts to reduce excessive tire wear. After that will be Megan exhaust.

My brother recently moved to CA, San Jose. Looking forward to going to the West coast for the first time.

thanks Larz!! I can't explain it, but just the little touches on a car makes a big difference to me :dblthumb:

thanks Dean!! I'm glad that the bumper came out great...as for the seat, I still feel a little movement but not as much as before. I might need to touch base with you regarding a permanent fix. I got some compensation for it since I complained like crazy.... :)
