FX35* ..... Not an off road vehicle

A forum for lovers of Infiniti's hot-rod crossover, the FX! In 2014, all FX models will be named Infiniti QX70, in line with Infiniti's new naming structure.

Is the FX capable of traversing off road?
Yes but I would not advise it.
The FX's problem is structural strength.
It was designed to be light and quick so the reinforcement that usually comes with an off road vehicle is absent in the FX.
This means the frameless body would most likely twist out of shape.
Infiniti does not recommend or advertise off road use.
The question is....... Will driving your AWD FX off road void your drive train and body warranty?
Sand and snow are no problem but what about mud?

I've seen videos of it being used in very heavy duty off road situations and holding up to big jumps and all kinds of crazy things I'd never do. But its off road capabilities are meant to be moderate. Nothing serious. Ground clearance is just 7.5 inches. Its more capable than people think it is, but shouldn't be used for serious offroading.

I've seen it too. But you got to wonder if these are rentals or insurance jobs.

I saw a video where a guy drives his through water along the beach.
In and out until the car finally stopped on him in the water.

I am sure the AWD version can navigate off road but I am equally as certain it will sustain a moderate degree of damage.

I always wonder about the body integrity after seeing a FX put through a course that only a 4WD is designed for.
