I need to replace my FX35 engine and have bought an M35 engine. Has anyone done this swap before? Mine is a 2006 FX35 and the engine is from an 2007 M35. Both are AWD and 4th VIN digits are the same ("A"). The only difference I can tell from online parts info is the number of connectors. I think the M has 1 or 2 more connectors.

So does anyone know of anything to be aware of in doing this swap? Is the G35 engine easier to swap with the FX?

The only swap I've found on this forum was a like kind replacement: https://forums.nicoclub.com/post6179534 ... p#p6179534

Any thoughts or ideas are appreciated.

When you say "connectors", what do you mean? Wiring? Hoses?

Macgiver, I could be wrong but I think the 4th digit identifies the engine type for Nissan. That digit was "A" indicating the VQ35DE engine in both of these cars. I think the 8th digit is for miscellaneous accessories/features. Peep this site: https://www.nissanhelp.com/diy/common/nissan_vin.php

Excellent! What issues did you run into, if any?

The only issue was an electrical related one which caused my car not to start a couple of days after the swap. The cause of it was the cruise control system. Seems the sensor was not connected. It probably became dislodged during the swap. easy fix: reconnect it and car fired right up.
