Just kidding... Maybe the first to sit in one?

However, I got the opportunity today to sit in/fondle/caress/drool upon the FIRST FX35 AND FX45 in Phoenix!!!! Today was the first day they were available for sale, and there were 2 at Infiniti of Scottsdale.

The FX45 was black, with the brick red and black interior leather (incredibly beautiful color) and the sport package.

The FX35 was silver/grey, with a taupe interior and the "technology package".

Both have 20" wheels - both are pre-sold. Daniel Jordan (sales) was kind enough to give me the full tour of both cars. The interior is very similar ergonomically and appearance-wise to the M45. Apparently the sales staff had been flogging one of the FX35's around a test track and ran it against the X5, RSX and the RX300 - Daniel says the FX performed rem, arkably well against all three, and really embarassed the competition in the handling department.

I'll be going back next week for a test drive, and I'll let you guys know what I think.

AZhitman, I was at Infiniti of Scottsdale on friday. Was in town for the Phoenix Open. I was in a hurrey to get on the road and didn't think to look in the showroom for the FX45 or the M45. Where they there on Friday? I would have really like to see both those cars. What an idiot I am. I did look in side a G35 coup on the lot. Pretty nice! I am just ticked off I didn't go in the showroom. I was afraid of being attacked by a salesman and being stuck there for hours.

There's something about those that really appeal to me and I don't quite know what. Very nice!

New ones sitting in Peninsula Infiniti on Friday, they hadn't been prep'ed yet. They should sell some of these, it is very nice inside and those monster rims (20") look killer.

Tried out the FX45 friday. WOW the V-8 stuffed into the G chassis is scary. Good thing it's AWD, or you'd NEVER have a set of rears last more than a week. Next they need to drop the 6sp manual from the Gcoupe in and we'd have a real rocket on our hands.

I was suprised how "short" the FX was in person, I was expecting it to be closer to the Murano in height. But it's short and W I D E. The rear seats are elevated, ala xTerra, and give wonderful line of sight, plus they recline. The rear seat room seemed larger than my Q.

But the rear cargo room was a terrific disappointment, I think my Q may have more useable room, honest. I'm not sure I could load my large cooler in the back without dropping the seats. And it fits (just barely) in the truck of my Q.

The tire package is a monster, it looks demonic with the 20" combo. Even the bose system was impressive.

Can't wait to see a Black on Black or Silver with Willow interior. Infiniti looks to have a real winner on it's hands.

BTW: Also saw the M45 in Metallic Red. Wow it looked great.

I liked a description I saw in a recent write-up; something to the effect of: "The FX45 can show its tailpipes to all of the other SUV's including the BMW" -- noting that its faster than the X5

The first FX's were brought here last week. And after testing it out I could not get out. The car handles like a dream. If I had to make a choice between the new G and the FX it would be very tough for me to choose. Ultimately I'd go with the G but if I were looking for style, performance and practicality it would be hands down to the FX. :ylsuper

Shame on you for not hooking up for lunch! :D

They weren't in the showroom. The 35 was in the shop (I just wander through there, they've learned to leave me alone) being prepped for delivery. The 45 was on the roof in the staging area, waiting to be prepped for delivery.

The sales staff at I of S is SO nice - Never any pressure, and when they realize you know the product as well (or better) than they do, they're very respectful.

Catch up with me next trip and we'll go have lunch with Joe (in an M45)!
