I'm interested in getting new wheels for my M45. Has anyone had the thought of putting the 20'wheels from the FX45 onto the M45? Going by some online info, it seems that the offset is the same.

Any input would be greatly appreciated

It's funny you bring this topic up, I was thinking about this today. I was told its a direct bolt up with no problems....it should look real good.

Oh i'm in no rush. Due to the great state of Mo. imposing a sales tax on the car in which it has to be paid before i get my license plates, a wheel decision for me won't be made until after Xmas.

The first generation M45 had an offset that would allow you to swap FX wheels onto the car, but the newer M35/45's had a much higher offset. Thus swapping FX wheels wouldn't be as "simple". They may stick out too far, don't know for sure, but if someone rounds up all the numbers (widths and offset) you could do the math.

Jeff,The problem will be that the tires for the FX will look huge on the M. There are a couple on here that have done the FX 20s on their M, they should be pretty easy to find on the this site.Cheers

Hmmm ... I am not sure that I am enamored with 20" wheels (these or other brands/looks) on the 2003/4 M45.

While these wheels do look very good on their own, and are very similar to the stock 18" rims too, I think I like the looks of the car with 18" wheels a bit better (And, this may be a general comment for me too, I think, for all such larger wheels on this model car!)

It just seems to me that 20" and 22" wheels overpower the overall balance and look of the car from the side. The effect starts to get too much like the FX ... the unique 2003/4 M45 shape gets altered too much. FWIW, I don't know if I would get used to them and change my mind later ... hmmm ...

Regardless, this is a personal opinion, of course! Others can choose to disagree.

Naw!! 20's look great on this car, especially when lowered, but they have to be the right style of twenties. I've seen other 20's around town on this car and just cry out loud asking "why why".

oh,, I had to google "FWIW" I had no clue. ~~For What Its Worth~~

LOL donk, I wouldn't be caught dead in that donked out black M. Any 20" chrome wheel adds the pimp look, even if you think you've found that one special pair of non donk chrome 20's, lol no its superdonk. key words being "chrome 20's".

The fx 20" wheels in gunmetal or painted silver look hot on the M, the most undonk looking wheels you can buy, and they are currently selling on ebay for 6-700$ a set.

I absolutely salivate when a 745 or A8 rolls by with the factory upgraded 20" rims, which naturally aren't available in chrome, and wonder why on earth anyone would put chrome 20's on one...until i see the driver

Is the CakeDaddy getting punked?

Welcome aboard new kid! Stick around and you might learn something about style. To classify my car as "PIMP" is a major compliment. thx

So let me get this straight, its the chrome you dislike and not the "20s" ,Correct. I was a little confuse for a minute until you started moaning about how wet your under wear got when you saw the Audi and BMW with stock 20's.

The M platform is big enough to handle a nice set of 20's, depending on the stance, wheel, and the wheel fitment. I love my 20's......

Not only do I not like chrome 20's, but if you would pay a quick visit to bwm/audi/mercedes/porsch/lambo/ferrari/um bugatti prolly even rolls and bently . com you would find none of these mfgrs even offer chrome rims (you MAY find one or two exceptions, but I doubt it). I guess they dont put them on their cars because they think they dont look good, and they know what looks good. They all offer big if not huge painted / machined silver wheels, because they look good, and I agree with them.

Its a matter of taste really, good taste versus bad taste. High end car designers v. big mufflers on civics. Who likes chrome, and who doesn't.

I only commented because I found it funny a person with a very flashy car called something else too flashy.

To each their own, clearly!

I still prefer my stock 18" rims ... lots of choices in tires with the right load index too!

I would like to see the silver 20"FX wheels on your 03', I think they would look better than the chrome wheels.

Well, I doubt if you’ll ever see my M with FX rims, but try this blk 99 Qt. It’s even lowered . If the Fx rims were stagged/chrome& lipped, then maybe.

Maybe I can shed some light on this.

I have an 02 Q with the FX 20s, in Gun metal, they look very nice.

I had the 18s when I bought it, then I bought a set of the 06 M45 sport wheels 19" x 8.5" they just barely rubbed the struts, the tires just rubbed the paint off a tiny spot when super hot in TX summer, but it was not enough to not run them. I then decided I like the 20s better so I sold the 19s.The M45 wheels offset is 5mm shorter than the Q/M, so clearance is not an issue on the M, the wheel is also .5" wider, so they wont stick out either, should be about the same. I run 15mm spacers on the rear of my Q, its perfect. I run 255/35/20 on the front and rear, Toyo Proxes 4s.

Hope this helps 5mm is about that much> | |
