A great resource for Nissan Sentra, Infiniti G20, 200sx, Pulsar, NX1600, NX2000, Tsuru, Primera and Sunny owners.

I was just wondering if anyone knows if it would be possible to use a fwd engine and transaxle in a mid engine setup. The idea is to mount it longitudinaly using only one axle going back to a differential. I know it sounds funny but what it would boil down to is being able to harnest all the engines power at one drive axle like a welded diff in a 240.

You might be able to. It'd be a lot of custom work. I'm not sure how you'd use the FWD transaxle if you mounted it longitudally. You'd need a completely custom transmission.

Mount it transversely and simply backwards, move the gears around inside the transmission (1 to R, R to 1, 5 to 2, 2 to 5, etc) and it'd be practically bolt-in. That's how Toyota does the MR-S (Celica motor), for instance. Use an LSD transmission, and you'd have a heck of a little setup. I've pondered using an Avenir turbo motor in an Elise-like car, seems like a great idea to me.
