Hey there, I was wondering if there would be any really big problems with this swap. My friend has an opportunity to get everything we need pretty cheap and he likes my CA quite a bit, but doesn't want to switch cars so we had this hair-brained idea. I'm basically asking if there's anyone with the experience/knowledge to tell if the engine just would not fit or match up in some major way. (Other than obvious different car maker things.)

Thanks in advance and if you're going to suggest buying another car and then doing the swap, hit ALT + F4 to instantly transmit your unending wisdom to me, telepathically. ;)

I dont see why it would be a prob. Awhile back there was a civic that had a SR swap in it lol.

Hmmm, probably need custom mounts but it wouldn't be to hard to get it in the car...the hardest part I see would be wiring and integrating the two harnesses...dont expect to ever get those gauges working. I'd just rip out the gauge panel from the civic and get some black plexiglass and aftermarket gauges...mount em' and wire everything up, I think it'd simplify things a lot.

DUCT TAPE!!!!!!! Haha, good question Sean...we all know everything is possible with money...but I wonder, I'd probably try to just use the CA transmission and cv axels...basically I'd swap the whole front suspension, hubs etc. (yeah, you'd need custom mounting points and a lot of work)

First of all, honda trannies sit on the passenger side of the chasis whereas the CA18DET sits on the driver's side. Axles lengths would have to be modified, spindles need to be changed, the electrical work will be a disaster, the CA's complete set is a few more inches wider than the honda stuff, the shifter needs to be changed, it will need an hydraulic clutch set up and the engine is designed to sit low whereas honda engines sit high. This is another fast and the furious dream that should not be attempted. Either stick with hondas options or go buy a nissan vehicle. I thought we had this discussion about giving our beloved CA some unwanted publicity which will make the public want them and then prices go up like the crappy SR.

Why not try and make it rwd? lol, I have often wondered how difficult it would be and I think it would be more fun to drive a rwd honda.

I think with a sawzal, some imagination, and a lot of determination, you could make a rear wheel drive honda pretty easily...as long as you dont care how it looks.
