I hate AC. I removed the pump, idler pulley assembly, condenser, lines, and the ps pump and that was alot of weight I didn't need. Ive seen the RWD CA's have the alternator located where the PS pump is. Is there a bracket I can make to make this work, or is this even possible to do?

Thanks.

HI Cory,

It is possible to relocate your alternator on the FWD to where the PS is, but you have to either get a RWD CA alternator or replace your alternator pulley with a similar one that the RWD has. Regarding the bracket, You can try to take the FWD one and mount it where the ps was, as it looks the same, but not 100% sure, it will fit, either way, I might have a spare RWD alternator bracket.

i am also planning on doing the same.

I was hoping that one of the brackets already on the engine would work.

If you have a few extra brackets PulsarGTR im would be interested in one also.

i am at a stage now where i want to relocate my alt.

I searched the stickys but could find if the RWD CA alt is the same as a FWD one. If not is the RWD KA alt the same as the RWD CA?

also, can someone please post detailed pictures of how the alt is mounted on the RWD CA. so i can figure out if my current brakets will work or if i need to make some.

thanks

Off topic Steve, did the clutch work okay for you? And BTW, you can relocate your alternator, but you will also have to reconfigure your alternator harness.

Dee,got it all buttoned up today and it went in and out of gear as normal! But my fear of a shot oil pump was confirmed. 0 oil pressure. checked the valves and they were dry. I shut it off quickly.

I then pulled the motor out, pulled off the oil pump and its seized. Ill be ordering a new OEM one along with a new time belt gear and timing belt

I didnt get a chance to check all the bearings yet im doing that tomorrow after work. But i think they should be fine.

ON TOPICI am aware af the rewiring thats required. But while the motor is out i want to relocate the alt. I have been wanting to for a while now but didnt want the pain of trying to do it while the motor in the car still. Now is the perfect oportunity. Any details or help is appreciated.

I was just curious to why would people want to relocate the alternator? Is it to use different belts or easier to find alternators that would fit?

What is the difference between the RWD and FWD alternator? Is it just the pulley's?

i think the pulleys are the same just the housing of the alt is cast differently i think, or as far as i can tell anyways.

the reason why us FWDers want to relocate it because to delete the AC wich i think came on every model pulsar the alt needs to be put were the powere steering is. this is because the Alt runs off of the ac compressor that runs off the crank.
