Hey guys, I was under the impression the fwd right axle was suppose to separate from the halfshaft like on a Honda. I've been having difficulty getting them to separate so I took it to an axle shop and was told they don't come apart. You can only unbolt the bracket from the bearing. Has anyone here separated to two or is the axle shop correct? This is for the RS5F50A transmission, btw.

I've never messed with an axle on a FWD CA, so I can't say for sure, but I've removed axles on a few other FWD Nissan's and they all are the type that you remove the bearing support and pull the axle out of the transmission.

Alright then, there's no reason Nissan would've made this one any different. Thanks for the input Float.

The bearing support can come off the axle and stay on the block. 3 bolts hold the axle to it, otherwise 4 bolts hold the bracket to the block. I just pulled my motor 2 weeks ago, so its fresh in my mind and still in pieces 20 feet to my left.

I knew that bearing unbolted from the bracket. I was just hoping the axle separated from the halfshaft like they do on Hondas. But that doesn't seem to be the case. Anyways, I just about got my car back together today. I should be driving it home tomorrow. I guess I never did make a build thread (I didn't want to unveil it until I was completely done, but now things have changed and it may be a long while before the car is "completed"). So I may make one pretty soon if I have time and sufficient eye candy, lol.
