im bringing this up only because i think this could be an interesting topic to discuss. try not to flame too much.

If the 240sx were never created RWD and instead realeased as a FWD vehicle, would it be what it is and as popular as it is today? and would you still have bought one? would you be where you are today with your 240?

worth discussion?

is this a serious question? rwd and good weight/weight balance is what makes the 240sx what it is today. i would not drive it if it was fwd, i would probably try and get an s2000.

I've read other discussions similar to this one before. To answer your main question though, I bought my first 240sx because it was RWD. I would definitely not have bought it if it had been FWD. I would have already bought a new Altima Coupe if they were produced with RWD.

RWD>FTW!

thats how i saw it a bit but thought someone else could bring something to this.

i was lookin at all the cars in the "best 240sx picture" thread n this thought came up. such beautiful cars, but what if the 240 was FWD. its still damn sexy.

i was unaware it was rwd when i drove my first one, tbh. i wasnt really into cars as much as i am today and i just f***ing fell in love with the car the first time i drove one. it didnt matter if it was awd, i had to have one. this was 10 years ago or so.

when i was a kid i had fallen in love w/my uncles red fc i was looking for a cheap car about 7 yrs ago (damn im old) and from far away thought it was an fc...when i got closer i saw it was a nissan and still looked decent but the price had me sold (500 bux RUNNING w/107k miles) so i purchased her and the rest is history....to answer the question i doubt i would have put money into it if it did not have the potential that it does more than likely would have wound up purchasing a fc and using the 240 as a beater lol.....and to my friend above i feel your pain on the fwd/ftl altimas such a waste

I'm really so sick of seeing RWD>FWD. To me its completely stupid, it really is all about what the user of the car wants to do with the car (incase you didn't know, you can't drift a fwd car, and no, e-braking doesn't count). Correct me if I'm wrong but say a RWD and a FWD car with equal weight and power were to race, I would bet my life that the FWD car would have it off the line and probably throughout the time and distance of the race. I personally like the 240sx the most because of its looks and its tons and tons of aftermarket support, I probably would have bought one (I've had 3 so far) even if it was FWD. To me its a plus to have RWD though... well at the same time at also sucks at times, mostly winter.

Another good thing to factor in about the 240sx is that they are cheap, very cheap, my first one I got for $700 with a few aftermarket parts as well, the second was a waste of time but cost me $150 and traded some s***ty car parts, and my latest one is my coupe, $360 and all I had to replace was the LCA and axle and now the latest: the wheel. To me, cheap is good, I like cheap. Not ebay cheap, but good price cheap.

God, too much typing...wtf is wrong with me...

I dont have a problem with FWD either. Its all on what the owner does to the car. I live in a highly riced out area full of Civics. There are only a few that I like. I woulndt buy them but I still dig'em. My wife has a FWD 3000gt that has about 280hp...I think... and It keeps up with my S13. I wouldnt say RWD>FWD at all.Does any of what I just typed make since? Im so tired.

I got this car mainly because it has a back seat. Otherwise, I would have much rather had an FC, if it had a backseat of course. 240s are slowwwwwwww.

Come to think of it, I almost got a mustang. Rwd, parts are cheap as dirt, backseat, easy to work on, and did I mention parts are cheap as dirt? I'm still pondering one actually. Whatever though, I caught the 240 bug and got one.

I will say this: Nissan trans>Ford trans. FC would be my second choice though, I love those cars. They do make a 2+2 FC too, rare as f*** but they did make them.

I'm glad you picked up on that. That is how serious I am on having a RWD car. My wife had a Camry and I hated driving that car! Maybe I'm old school but spinning front tires look so ghey! My next Nissan car will be a RWD one but it has to be a step down from a 350z/370z.

Well, I don't really have any pics except when I first got it, and then ones like my sig, but that's it. I'll take a bunch once it back from paint though.
