Hi, I just bought a 2007 M35X in Canada. However, the dealer is very elusive when I ask about the 2008 model. I read that there was a lawsuit that BMW launched against Infiniti in Canada about use of the "M".

Does anyone know if the M35/M45 name or model will continue to be sold in Canada?

The lawsuit was about the use of the "M" and if i recall it was dismissed, siting cant copyright/trademark a letter...

the reason why your dealer is not really answering your questions about the 2008 model is that there is a change planned, and likely 2008 or 2009 that will put a slightly bigger engine into it; and some other small refinements; The G series is catching up, and the M needs to have some new stuff added; If not in a rush, google and do research, you will find stuff out..

either way, the 2007 model is great, and the 2008 is likely not going to change (but may) - they want to sell the cars they have on the lot, and in the dealer world, talking about next is very poorly looked on when they have cars to sell;

Car sales in Canada at dealers has dropped off huge, I knew a few very success sales reps that have resigned now - they were not making any money due to US buying and importing;

frankly, its not good for the car biz right now;tk

A potential reason that the dealer may be elusive about the 2008 M is that the Canadian Infiniti website shows a significant price decrease on the M35x (ie. 2007 it was $60K CAD and 2008 is $52.9K). I think there are some realignment of what comes in the base Canadian model ... read removed some features to make the price more attractive. I believe that they are trying to completely deplete the dealerships of the 2007 model since the 2008's will be more attractive than the 2007's solely because of the price.

I was just at the dealer this morning (for service) and was surprised that the showroom still had a 2007 M35x and not the 2008 model.

Although, as someone who just bought an M35x less than 2 months ago, I can't say I'm happy about this.

Thanks, that makes sense. I was afraid that it was due to a price drop but that's pretty dramatic. I agree - am not very happy about that at all.
