Hey, all. My name is German and i'm from northeast Ohio. After browsing Nico for almost 2 years, I finally bought a 91 hatch SE during this past summer. The details on the car: 160K miles, 5 speed, 170:175:170:175 compression. Overall the car runs pretty well, so I figured I could possibly get away with a mild T3/T4 build without rebuilding.

seems like a pretty solid list, givin your parts list expence on your build must not be a big issue and the parts you have labled and the 850cc inj you are considering leads me to believe your either .A)are going overkill and should tone it down a notch or .B) looking for room to to grow in the future...

so the only thing I dont really understand is this same recurring theme that I see in posts is why you want to go with a JWT ECU?

why not go full standalone perhaps a hydra nemesis for instance? I just dont understand why someone that is investing all this $ on their build just to get a "chipped" ECU instead of a unit that is custom tuned to your project that the parameters can be changed instantly instread of hassleing with sending it off to get a decent but still lack luster tune in comparison

The JWT tune is great. I have a very similar set up as above but with 550cc injectors. I've been turbo'd over a year on the 170,000 mile stock motor with no problems at all. It just runs a bit rich in WOT.

You're right on the looking for room to grow. I'd figured if something happened that would result in me rebuilding the engine, I would have all the parts that could handle well over 350hp.

As for the tune, that's why I was looking for a local tuning shop that could tune my car, instead of having a tune that's not specifically for my car. I'm still trying to find a local dyno tuner to get some prices, but so far all i'm finding is GM and Ford certified tuners. I might just give the ones I found an email and see if they have any experience with nissans.

Lance, that's great to hear. I really have no doubt in JWT, out of all the personal experiences i've read for pre-tuned ecus they have the most positive review. I like the fact that it's more on the safe side, because i'm usually paranoid. lol

This is a picture of their oil line kit,

Install Instructions:

I have everything in that picture, but their oil pressure restrictor looks like this

1/8" male to 1/8" female NPT.

I'll figure it out eventually, just research up on all these different fittings.

Alright,

Well i'm in the market for an intercooler. I looked on ebay and found a cxracing ka24de kit with piping for a top mount.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...ories

Also, found jgy's custom intercooler page and thought about buying one of those cores and custom pipe set.

http://www.jgycustoms.com/240sx/intercoolers.htm

Anyone have an experiences or suggestions on what I should go with?

EDIT: I also want to keep my bumper support, but don't mind taking notches out of it to fit an intercooler.

What size did you go with? Did you cut your bumper support?

That cxracing intercooler is 31x11x3, which from what i've read is going to require me to cut the middle of the support out. I don't know if I want to hack the support off, I'd like the extra protection just in case something did happen.

I read your build thread, your coupe was awesome, I literally shouted "NO!" when I seen what happened on the rainy track day. Nice recovery with the hatch.

Alright, so I lost my tee fitting for the oil feed line... Just wondering if it's safe to use one of the 1/8" NPT ports on my greddy oil sandwich adapter plate for the feed line instead?

Oil from the sandwich plate is not filtered, so use it at some risk.

Thanks Biggie, I ended buying another steel tee and stainless line and ran the line off the block to the tee mounted on the frame rail.

Another question, what type of tubing do you guys used for the wastegate inlet pressure ports? I need to buy some 6mm tubing for the wastegate to boost controller, but I don't want to buy anything that's going to melt on me.

And does this oil drain line look okay? This seems like the only route I can take without kinking it.

the oil is gravity drained hard to tell from the pic but does the drain go down then up? if it does it will not work. Also is the drain low or is it me?

It's an inch from the top lip of the oil pan to the center of the bung. I followed the dimensions from this video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xUXLIsVux4s and I have mine in the exact same spot shown here. Image

The bung is perpendicular to the pan, but I didnt know the pan sat at an angle like that, so it angled down by how the motor sits.

Any solutions other than taking it off and welding another bung on?

you can try it like that but I am 90% sure its gonna smoke from drainage issues. OR take the pan back off and fix it, I angled mine so much I almost could not fit the hose and clamp around that bish.

What I did to retain my AC was to remove the compressor and mounting bracket. Unfortunately if you have freon in the system you need to remove it, properly blah blah environment blah.. After that I cut off a hunk of mounting bracket and a hunk of the compressor (lower rear IIRC) to clear my oil drain line. Make sure you clean up the cuts to prevent chafing.

I have a very cold ac output with cheap freon and an assumed dirty system, it was open for 10 years..
FWIW update the high pressure relief valve on the compressor( I used one from a newer altima at the junk yard it was free), and the high low pressure switch located on the dryer, while the system is open.
Good luck and happy air conditioned boosting.

Thank you sir, i'm going to take off the pan and heat it up and bend it to get some negative slope goin on.

Also, made a custom bracket for my catch cans and got them mounted.

Decided to go with the braided steel -4AN for the wastegate/boost controller lines with some thermo-tec fire sleeve. I'll post pics when i get them in and assembled.

I heated the pan up and pushed the bung up and towards the front end.

Results:
