Future FX35 owner?

Hello all. This is the first time I've been here and it looks like a great site. I'm seriously looking at the FX35 (AWD) for my next vehicle and am planning on driving a few this coming weekend. My budget limits me to the 2005-06 models, but I still think these years offer quite a bit of bang for the buck compared to other models in the same class. I've done a lot of research on them but am wondering if there's anything I should be keeping an eye out for when I test drive them. Are there any issues that are common with the FX35? Also, are there certain mileage marks (expensive service intervals) I should be aware of? For example, I'm a long time Audi owner and know that the timing belt/water pump change on Audis is extremely expensive and very common. Thanks for the info.

I've heard that the dash bubbling up is a common issue. Some people are saying its only on the black/charcoal colored dashes. Does anyone know if this is true?

you don't have to worry about the timing belt as the cams are on a chain.. you'll need to do regular drive belt checkups though as those are still rubber.

Go with the '06 over the '05. The '06's and up got a revised interior that is much improved!

I bought an 05, but around here all of the 06s were several thousand more, even with more miles. Mine is not the sport model and it does not have navi. I think all of the 06+ models come with navi. That might be the reason mine was less expensive than most of the others I found.

I do think the 06 interior looks better, but I am fine with the 05 version. I am not that much of a navigation user, so that didn't worry me, either.

I am a bit concerned about the dash, so I have been using a silver shade on it and it stays in the garage at home when not being used. Luckily, my wife works evenings, so the car spends a lot of time during the day in the garage.
