hey everyoneso basically i dont own a coupe yet but as soon as i find a buyer for my 98 accord ill be at the dealership. anyway i really need help deciding what altima to get.basically i can spend roughly $25 G's on the car but im not exactly sure how to go about it.i want the v6 but the mileage isnt as great as the 4 cylinder.i dont want a base model, but i cant exactly get the fully loaded one neither.and i am going for a manual transmission as well. i just want to know what aspects are worth getting and what are just cheaper to get aftermarket.any advice? thanks.

IMO, 3.5 with moonroof and premium package and VDC. You don't need the navigation package (but it sure is nice lol)

Get the 3.5 w/ convienence pkg (sry cant spell) the mileage isnt much of a diff bc if u drive hard either way itll suck....but if u do alot of highway the 2.5 does do better....just go 3.5 its faster and more fun and doesnt top out at 113 ....so dissappointing....by the way i got the 2.5 its great but would rather more power

yea well i think the 3.5 comes with the convenience pkg but if you mean the premium that adds another 3 thousand. i want the 3.5 so bad but it seems like i'd have to get the standard model. i doubt the sales rep would drop the price that much.

as the 09 gets closer to coming out you will probably be able to grab up a 3.5 6mt with premium package for about 26-27k i would figure. the dealerships out here in texas have boat loads of altima coupes in all trims and i'm sure they'll be offering up crazy deals soon to get them off the lot.

I paid $27361 for my 3.5 premium no nav 2 days ago.

I'd bet you could swing a deal on an 08 right now on what they call a 3.5 Convenience plus package. That'sbasically 3.5 premium package without leather. I bet you couldget that for not too much over $26K.

I know that's pushing it a bit but you can also just get a base 3.5and add things to it later.

Like you, I was thinking I'd rather have the 3.5 (because after all, who wants a puny 4-banger these days?). Then, I tried out the 2.5 and I fell in love. The V6 is hella fast for sure, but that I4 is still faster than a lot of other cars on the road today. Besides, with the 2.5 it means:

1) Less gas (highway mileage is phenomenal and gas prices are only gonna keep rising)2) Cheaper insurance (especially because you're younger)3) Cheaper overall (means more $$$ left over for customization!)

So, if you want the raw power go with the 3.5. If you want something that's a bit more friendly on the wallet but still hella fun, get yourself a 2.5 sir!

yeah i see what you're saying. my ideal altima would be the 3.5 w/ premium. online its like 29k. thats a little too much. im wondering if i could find that at the dealership or bring it down. otherwise its either a base 3.5 or a 2.5 with premium pkg. but thx so much for the insight.

get the base 3.5, thats all you can afford at 25 after taxes etc.

you can always install aftermarket sterio etc when u have more money, but an engine swap is a bit out of the question.

Im with a lot of these guys, if youve never had anything with REAL power before, dont bother with the 3.5, the 2.5 will satisfy you just fine. I have had lots of power in the past, and am OK at best with the 2.5, but those interstate on ramps leave me begging for more power occasionally (that being some around here are less than 1/8mile.. the one I get onto going to work each day is actually just over 200ft and is a 5% grade uphill, those days with heavy traffic I really wish I had more power. That however, is the ONLY time I regret buying the 2.5.. insurance is expensive enough as it is anyways, and if I had just wanted power i wouldve stuck with my orignal G35 hunting or find a nice 02 SS or WS6 *shrug*.

short version - I vote for a loaded up 2.5 or a 2.5 premmy, with stillen kit

Hope you find the car you want jason. IMO, if you want to keep the car for awhile, go with the 3.5..if need be dont get the packages and just make it better as you go along.

my vote is also for the base 3.5, it is still very nice inside and you get the power.

oh and btwwhat do you guys prefer on the acmanual or auto?

The 2.5 has plenty of power and is GREAT on gas. Espically with our gas prices continuing to rise. I think getting a 2.5 premium is better than a 3.5 base. It all depends if you are going for the power or just a great looking car

you also have to look at what all you want out of the premium packages. For me everything I really wanted I could get after market mostly because I didn't really want leather. I'd rather spend the money toward a nice after market NAV unit, HIDs are an easy install.

yeah all i wanted was "leathers n a sunroof"...I love leathers rubbing on my bum!

You could get custom leather seats though (or any other fabric)...

I still stick to the 2.5 and tricking it out off the floor... you MAY be able to get the 3.5 with your budget, but itd suck to not be able to pay gas... idk how old you are or your income..

You will go fast enough in a 2.5 IMHO...

haha i see.yeah well im almost 18.just graduated.and im a teller at B of Abasically my parents said to bring them 4k and theyll match it + the worth of my 98 accord which adds up to my down payment (roughly 12k)after that ill be paying monthly, which wont be much of a problem whether i go with 2.5 or 3.5my preference would be to have everything except the leather and tech pkg.yet im getting mixed responses in the forum.some say thatll bring the price up over my limit, but somehow i am convinced that ill be able to get my ideal altima.

I say get the car that you want (to me it sounds like you're really into the 3.5) so that you don't regret what might have been

Does anyone here have an A/C without a sunroof? I've never seen one without and in all the literature I've read it seems as though it comes standard on all coupes...

I don't know about in the States, but here in Canada the "base" 2.5 is still pretty much loaded: 8-way adjustable driver's seat, air, power everything, sunroof, etc... I opted for the base because I didn't think the extra $$$ was worth it for leather, HID, & nav when I could easily get the same equipment for half the price on my own.Jason, whatever you do, stick with the base model and customize from that point on your own terms...

in the State you have to get the "convenience" package to get the Sunroof and idk what else, probably the 8-way adjustable seat and stuff

Go for the extra and get the 3.5. I had the same battle you are having but just quickly cure it like I did. Drive the 4 then get in the 6, right after... Your payments aren't going to be much different from 25k to 28k.

this.

if you werent financing it and had 25 grand in cash to blow, yes you should proly go with the 2.5

BUT you are financing it, just get what you want man, your payments will only be a few more bucks a month, no big deal. like i posted b4, u can always install a stereo etc later, but replacing your engine is pretty out of the question.
