Quote »Ironically, the arrival of Nissan's new Z-car comes just as its sweet-driving 200SX sports coupe sibling bows out of the Australian market because of problems meeting future emission regulations.

But fans of affordable sports cars need not fret, because a replacement is already under development.

Nissan's John Yukawa confirmed that a new 200SX was on the way and that it would stay true to the philosophy of its predecessor. Don't be surprised, then, if the 200SX replacement is another compact, rear-drive, turbocharged coupe.

"The 200SX is an entry car for the young guy, the Z-car is a car for the macho guy and the GT-R is a car for the enthusiast," said Yukawa. "Nissan is always seeking to provide fun-to-drive cars for the customers, especially for enthusiasts. This is the Nissan way."[/quote]http://drive.fairfax.com.au/cg...200SXI don't know if this is a re-post or not (if it is flame-on). Ah the possibilities. The rest of the article is about the next GT-R. Also kewl

Yeah I know the article is a little old, but I've been on nico for over a year and nobody has brought this up with the exception of "S-16 = no". Who knows mabye it won't even make it over here, but one can dream.

Seriously I don't think that it will make it over here to the states. Reason for this is because look at the automobiles that dominate the industry right now.... SUV's. The crossovers are gaining even more popularity right now as well. There will essentially be no market for a mid-level sports car. Same reason for them not bringing the S15 over as well. Low sales. That's why all the "true" Japanese sports cars (i.e Supra, Skyline, Silvia etc) are no longer in production or not in the US at least, with the exception of the Z and RX-8. Maybe if the popularity grows once again, then we will see a tamed down version of the Silvia here in the US. But I wouldn't expect anything within the next couple years or even a decade.

also notice that just because a new car could be developed for Australia or Japan it doesn't mean it's coming here. Don't get your hopes up.
