My 1987 Pathfinder wouldn't start yesterday ... click from the solenoid but no starter noise. The only problem I can find is a broken fusible link in the engine bay ... it is labelled PCT and Heater. Is this likely to be the problem, or am I looking at some serious starter motor issues?? Just in case you're wondering if I'm an idiot, the battery is not flat and the leads to the starter are in place.

well replace the fuse link first. Then see how it does. It could have a starter issue. but I have also seen issues with the factory dealer installed alarm systems. If you have that system you might want to try bypassing the alarm system. I am kinda hesitant to post how to do that on the forums for theft purposes obviously. If the link doesnt resolve it let me know and I will email you with the instructions on how to by pass the alarm and test it.
