Hello Z fam,

I have a z32 TT 1990, auto to manual. I have a new EFI engine harness 1995, new concept battery harness, used alt harness. car has been down for years. :( its time to get it back on the road.

- my issue.

This is the first time i tried to turn the car on. I connected the battery and the fusible link blow. I have read around that it can be the alternator hot wires, or bad alternator.

my dashboard showed the high beams [blue light] on, but no turn signals, no door chime.etc...no ecu red light.

i didn't have a multi meter, but i will this weekend. and will take the alt to part store to see if its bad.

I like to know if you see anything wrong from the pic's. like bad location on ground to alt or tranny.. etc..

thank you fam,

without poking around with a multimeter my first guess would be a short (a pretty substantial one too). I cant really give you any advice because it would be a good guess at best.

thank you for reply. do you see any issues with the pic? for the tran ground and alt ground.. if those look good to you.. i can eliminate bad ground on these points. and move to finding the short you stated.

All the photos look correct, how many wires are crimped into the positive eyelet on the alt, and what color are they? I honestly don't see a weak main ground causing the fusible link to blow. You are referring to the blue or red link in the picture right?

I just took a second look and I see your issue clear as day. The alternator is supposed to have a non conductive spacer between the positive eyelet and the alternator body. Your's looks like the plastic spacer that is built in at the factory is missing, likely disintegrated due to age and heat cycling. Get a rubber or plastic ring about 1/8" thick and install it between the alt body and the wire end/eyelet. Currently you are grounding out the battery positive on the alternator body.
