Hello everyone. My 95 Q45 has recently started blowing only the _room lamp fuse__ [located in engine compartment fuse box 10 amps ] , therefore i have no interior lights, no trunk light, no warning chime or anti theft etc.... Every thing else is completely fine (aside from the air mix door 1 that needs repair which i posted in the thread before this).

Any ideas to what is causing the fuse to short ???

I am going to start tracing wires tomorrow and checking body grounding points as well.

I will check the two body grounds under the dash and the ground in the truck for starters.

Thanks !

Thanks bud, but i have done several searches and found all these posts.

I have changed my fuse several times, all with 10 A fuses, different brands. All have blown. I am not a newbie.

Do you think it is anything else?

does the fuse blow immediately as soon as you put it in, or does it do it after some time???

I would switch on each light one by one to see if that narrows it down. But reinstall the fuse this time and make sure there is no power going to it, if there is then something is working.

Sorry I can't be more help, I am still learning about electrical components.

Measure the resistance to ground with fuse removed [on output side].13.77 ohms is 1 ampere so 1.37 ohms is 10 amperes................the lower the resistance below 1.37 ohms the faster the fuse blows. [also depends on ambient temperature since resistance goes up as temp increases.]

The point is to gleen the distance of the short from fuse since every wire has some tiny resistance per foot.http://www.radiolocman.com/she...18899

Inspect all lamp sockets and bulbs.

After you make thousands of measurements your mind develops a solving strategy.

Did the air mix door issue and the fuse issue start at exactly the same time? Do you have any aftermarket accessories wired in to your electrical system? In most cases a recent change in something will cause the problem...

One of the few times I was stranded on the side of the road, was after I installed an aftermarket CD changer. I used a "eurostyle" terminal strip with recessed heads for the power, but it still found a way to short... The good news was that I was stranded near the air national guard base, and I had a cool air show to watch until help arrived

Does that fuse have anything to do with your brake lights or tail lights? If so, overheating and corrosion in the sockets is pretty common, so that would be the first place to check.

Good luck!

Heath

Thanks for all the help.... No, the problems didn't start at the same time... but I have fixed the problem.... I took out my radio and reinstalled everything and now the fuse does not blow. I did notice that the radio/ac controls are grounded on the sides to the body with the 4 mount screws. That could have been it..
