I think I may have blown a fuse, or two but I don't know which! I installed a different receiver in my car last night and it won't power on. This morning I noticed that my anti-theft isn't working and nor is the clock. What should I check? I checked the radio and clock fuses and both of those were fine. I don't know where else to look. Everything was fine until last night. Help!

Id try switching out the radio/clock fuse - Its one fuse IIRC - there may be a hairline crack in the fuse youre not seeing. Also (if you havent already) check any inline fuse on the head unit and your grounding, though that wont do anything for your clock...I ran into the same problem when I tapped the power from my radio lead.

I'll go change them now and report back. It's two separate fuses for the clock and radio. What fuse controls the anti-theft? I didn't see any label for it under the hood or in the car.

(In my best Stewie voice): Victory is mine! I rechecked all the fuses and realized I checked what I thought was the clock fuse, but was the power antenna fuse (map was upside down). I looked at it and sure enough it was blown. I put a new fuse in and the receiver immediately came on! I don't understand what the connection is, but the anti-theft is also somehow connected to it. I'll try to post pics some time this week. It's a really nice in-dash double din Jensen unit with built-in DVD player and TV tuner. It also has an SD card reader so I can play MP3s and view pictures from the card!

By the way, does anyone know how to bypass that pesky emergency brake wire in order to use the DVD or TV while the car is in motion? One of the reasons why I bought this unit is because I want my son to be able to watch Arthur or Boobah on the way to his daycare. I'm still considering the headrest units, but would rather not go that route.

I still need to connect the antennae for the TV tuner (4 in total) and there is a bit of a gap in the dash under the unit. I will probably have those issues corrected by a professional this week.

I am in the process of selling my Sony unit on eBay and am including the storage pocket and all other materials that came with the receiver. The only thing missing is the retail box the receiver came in. Here's a link:

If anyone knows how to bypass the emergency brake issue that prevents the DVD/TV from being watched while the car is in motio, let me know! Thanks again to NY94J30 for the assist!

Yea just ground that wire, and you will bypass that feature.

It will make the radio think the e brake is on all the time.

Yep! I googled it yesterday and found that out. Thanks! I'm really liking this unit. I need to get an amplified TV antenna, though. The one that comes with it doesn't do too good a job at getting TV channels.

You should take a look at the unit I bought. It's a Jensen VM9020. I got mine off of eBay and saved about $200. I saw it in the stores for $799 and paid $598. It's an in-dash unit (not the flip out) and has a DVD/Cd, TV, Tuner, and SD card slot. The next unit up I saw was a Kenwood and it was over $1800. The only thing the Jensen doesn't have is satilite radio, which can be added and GPS, which cannot. The screen reception is great, I just need to get an amplified antenna. I was in downtown Chicago today and got pretty good reception, though. It just sucks in the South Suburbs.

I finally took some pics of the receiver. Here they are! Here it is in TV mode. It gets decent reception out in the burbs, but the closer I get to downtown the clearer it gets.

This is DVD mode. The picture is GREAT! I was really impressed with it.

The screen motors down to expose the CD/DVD and SD card slots

This is SD mode. The screen displays all the text that is encoded for each song and has a random feature, as well.

Here are the two remotes that cam with it. The larger one is the master remote and controls all the features. The smaller one is called the Kids Zone remote and will control the headrest LCDs (if I ever get any!)

I didn't know it at the time, but the antennaes that came with the unit are amplified. I just didn't have them installed where they would get the best reception. Outside of the fuse fiasco, I'd say the install was pretty easy. Everything I needed was in the box. I can connect a CD or DVD changer, it has an AUX input, options for a surround sound module for 5.1 surround sound, 2 preamp outputs (which I doubt I'll ever use), and 1 output to connect external LCDs.

The price was great! I paid about $600 for it (shipping included) from eBay (it's $799 at Circuit City) compared to the Eclipse and Pioneer units that run about $1800 each and the Kenwood that is $900. The only option missing from this one that the others have is the GPS, but some of the others don't have TV tuners and NONE of them have the SD card slot, and this has a touch screen! While I'd really like to have GPS, I wasn't willing to shell out that much money to get it!

Looks very nice, I always thought jensen was cheap sh1t, but I guess its not that bad after all. Looks real sharp with the double din screen.

Me, too. I never thought they would make anything worth owning until I saw this in the store. The only thing I don't like about it compared to the Sony deck I just sold, is each feature doesn't have its own sound setting. For the radio and TV, I like to have the EQ set to vocal or flat. By changing it on the TV, it changes it for all options (CD, radio, DVD, etc.). Other than that the sound is pretty good. I'm still fooling around with it trying to get the perfect setting. The Sony would keep each setting per feature.

As far as affording it, I sold my Sony for about $85 and scoured the house for other old items I didn't want anymore. You'd be surprised at what people on eBay will buy! You could get a decent amount of money for the Bose head unit too, although I'm keeping mine to put back in the car should I ever decide to sell it.
