Hello all,

I am trying to install a Gentex mirror with just the auto dimming and HomeLink features (no compass or temp) in my wife's 2013 Rogue Special Edition w/o sunroof. I have run the wiring all the way down to the fuse block and I cannot figure which wires are constant and ignition controlled wires. I have been searching this forum and the web for 2 days and cannot find a thing for 2013 Rogues... Can someone please help me out. Thanks in advance. I will promptly go to the intro section and introduce myself. ;)

It's going to be the same as the previous years. Here's a link to the 2013 Rogue FSM. http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/Rogue/2013%20Rogue/

Exactly which, out of those 30 or so pdf files has the fuse block wiring in it? Thanks.

Dunno. You'll have to do what I do. Open each one until you find what you're looking for. HINT: EX stands for exhaust system.

C'mon guys, if I had a volt meter, multimeter, etc. I wouldn't be asking this question. So, nobody can answer my question?

If you look at the fwd.pdf file, that basically the index of all the files, which will tell you which one to go to.
Its not like we don't like to answer your question, its because we (or at least me) cannot not remember which file it is

Sorry about that, I should've been more specific. I wasn't talking about the PDF files, I was talking about my original question about the wiring. But thanks for the heads up about the fwd.pdf file.

bud no need to bump your thread daily. the active folks already saw your post, and already did the best they could.

GET A VOLT METER, VOLTAGE TESTER, etc. NO ONE ON HERE IS GOING TO SAY: "YEA, YOU KNOW THAT ONE GREEN WIRE WITH THE SILVER STRIPES AND THE BLACK SOLID LINE, YA THAT ONE". not even nissan engineers would know exactly which wire you should go after. its time for you to test your wires and make the right choice based upon the readings you get on your tester. i HIGHLY suggest you visit any auto store and invest in a simple $3-$10 12volt tester. you can get one on ebay right now for $3.97 shipped

Actually I didn't bump it daily, go back and look. 2 days, yes, but not daily. In all, I have waited patiently for over a week for a simple answer. This is by far not my first forum to join, I know forum etiquette, bud.

Speaking of forum etiquette... is it ok for moderators to YELL at new members of the forum family?

I'm sorry... WHAT?!?! Did you seriously just say that Nissan Engineers don't know the wire color coding of their own vehicles?

I just saved myself $3-$10 by using something that was free. My eyes. You see, I looked at the fuse block cover for schematic layout of the fuses. I HIGHLY suggest you do this to figure out which wires connect straight to the battery and which ones are ignition controlled wires. In the red rectangles below I have pointed those out. In the red oval below is the ignition controlled wire I chose to tap into. I chose an ignition controlled wire for 2 reasons: 1)It was a lot easier to get to and tap into and 2)I didn't want the mirror to have constant power, even though it only requires 350 milliamps.

If you look under the dash behind the fuse block, you will see all of the wires running to the fuse block. I felt around to the back of the fuse block to find the correct wire for the lower right outlet (red oval above). Then I pulled the fuse for that outlet and gently wiggled the wire back and forth to confirm that it was the correct one. You will see the connection in the outlet slightly moving back and forth. You will see the wire I chose in the pic below, it's white with silver markings. I did pull slightly/gently down on the wire to get some slack in it to be able to fit the wire tap. I used the constant (red wire) and ignition controlled (yellow wire) from the Gentex mirror together in the same wire tap.

This is the type of forum question response I am used to on other forums, whether the forum is for vehicles or not. We are all here to help each other out. IMHO, I think it sucks that someone can post a question, wait over a week for a helpful valid response and get basically nothing, even after looking at all the .pdf files in the link above. But I can come in here being a Nissan Rogue newbie and not only answer my own question, but also provide a DIY and enough info for other people to learn from. Which is more than the "active folks" can do. Can I be a forum mod too? :poke:

and there will be times you never get an answer. we are not employed by you, nor does anyone here owe you anything. you are not paying us for a service- so quit expecting answers upon demand. take what you can, and quit expecting everyone to know all the answers to your questions. dont forget that this is not a car that has been purchased by those prone to hard modifications and or alterations(especially mods like electrical, etc).

what i meant was, "OFF THE TOP OF THEIR HEAD".

BINGO! thats what you should have done from the beginning, prior to expecting easy answers from others.
side-note: when i was a little boy in grade school, if during class I'd raise my hand and asked my teacher how to spell a certain word, do you know what her answer was? ill tell you: "get a dictionary, find it yourself, and if you cant find it - then ask for help." i hated her for it then. she made me do work. but now as an adult, i thank her for it. i learned to help myself as much as possible, and to be grateful for any help i get when all of my options are exhausted.

again, do you think people on here work for you? no one on here owes you squat. no one has to do YOUR leg work. you get what you can, and be damn thankful people tried by offering advice that would have helped YOU ANSWER YOUR OWN QUESTION. just because your question was not answered, that doesn't mean somehow, someone or something failed you. talk about a self-centered, demanding attitude!

i have seen many times, on various forums, questions not get answered. sometimes strange things just have not been crossed before; or sometimes its not something people remember off the top of their heads. why should we start digging through our cars' fusebox, to answer your question- the very work you yourself refuse to do?
But I can come in here being a Nissan Rogue newbie and not only answer my own question, but also provide a DIY and enough info for other people to learn from.
THATS LIFE! what do you want a cookie!? my first threads on here were DIY write ups; look it up for yourself. literally, my first posts on here were a differential & transfercase fluid drain. did i get pissed that i was the first to cross that path? hell no. you dont always get what you need/want out of free resources, just be thankful people tried. be thankful that people offered some form of advice- even if it didnt directly answer your question.

and its great that you added to the forum. thats how it works sometimes; sometimes you add more than you get.
Which is more than the "active folks" can do.
do you really expect people in the middle of winter, to go out and search for your answer. my god - talk about demanding. go do your own footwork, and come back and report to those who either dont know, dont remember, or dont wanna find out.
Can I be a forum mod too?
fuuuuuk no!
not with that demanding attitude. you'd be asking for a 100k salary, a 401k, and a company gas card lol

I am not going to argue with you over the internet, but you apparently have some issues that need dealing with. Sorry to have poked the bear. Geez.
