So my oil pump failed a while back, right after the ka got tuned, I had no idea why, the oil pressure was pretty good before...

Now finally, the car is tore apart, I take out the oil pump, inspect the gears and cover for tolerances.... EVERYTHING IS WELL WITHIN SPEC.

Come to find out, the oil tee had gotten plugged with teflon tape, which fed the factory oil pressure gauge, autometer oil gauge, and oil feed line- each of which I checked for pressure on...

I guess the good news is it's getting a new oil pump and timing chain assy, and maybe a decent write up if I can take enough pictures

So no damage to the motor, just the turbo? I switched to the teflon paste awhile back...but only cause I randomly saw it onsale at Harbor Freight. Couple of drops and a good seal ftw

Oh man, its a rule you never use the tape for oil connections. Always use the paste. Sorry to hear that dude.

Haha that sucks, but at least you figured it out. Sorry you had to tear it all apart to figure it out.

Did the turbo receive any damage or did you catch it soon enough?

as far as know the car only ran for about 20 seconds without oil to the turbo, hopefully that wasn't enough to damage the turbo

It was, just probably not enough to KO it. Check for excessive shaft play.
