Funny problem with door (funny haha)

Sometime yesterday my door quit opening. Neither the inside handle nor outside handle will open the door. I dont know if i can get the door cover off while the door is closed so I might have to cut it up with a razor or something to remove it.

Any ideas? Ive been 'Dukes of Hazzarding' in and out of the car. Im in Alabama, so no one sees it as anything out of the ordinary.

i bet the rod that goes to your door latch popped off. call up a lock smith before you fudk your interior up which may cost even more down the road.

just open up the door panel and see what came off.

I was able to halfway pry the doorhandle off. Some weird piece that went to the unlocking mechanism slipped off. Hard to explain. With some 2' long needle nose plyers and a friend I was able to fix it. A slim jim wouldnt even have helped b/c of the way it was messed up.

so it was the little plastic thing that holds the rod in place? and also you cant just take the door panel off without opening the door.

Nope, it was a metal slot that fit into another metal tab right at the striker part of the door.

And oh yes, you can take the panel off (pretty much) without taking off the door. Thats how I fixed it Its something called violent force. Door panel is still in 1 piece so its all gravy

damn and i thought i was the only person that had to do the dukes of hazard thing. but it is somewhat fun. that rod did the same thing on my car and all i had to do was pop it back in and it worked. but now its not fun to get in my car anymore

Dukes of Hazzarding isnt just a skill. Its a way of life and don't you forget it.

One time, I had a 1973 Mach 1. I dukes of hazzarded myself into the car and somehow squished my nuts. damn that hurt.
