i have a 05 manual coupe... i sometimes smell sulphur when i accelerate quickly... i'm not exatly sure where the smell is comming from.. whether its from the vents in side the car... or the exhaust..anyone know what could be the problem??could it be possible that the gas isn't properly being burned??i have no clue... i'm just throwing out ideas

after a drive in a rainy day, i smell a "burning oil" smell from the car, someitmes it enters the ventilation inside the car... i was hoping htat it's the smell from the undercoating... but i'm not exactly sure... does anyone have this issue with the G?

and the clutch... when i'm revving at high rpm (above 5000) and press the clutchin to change gear... i hear a steady "humming" noise... which stops when the gear is changed and clutch is not pressedoh.. i should also add that... a small vibration in the clutch is felt when i start rolling from a stop... i hope its not a big problem... any info on these topic would be appreciated!

Thanks[IMG]

The smell on a rainy day is probably from the brakes. It is nothing to worry about.

The sulphur thing I have no idea. I have a coupe and mine never smells like that. You could have hit something and damaged the Catalytic converter maybe?? Assuming we still have that on this car, no idea, but I remember those things stink sometimes if they are damaged. I guess I am throwing things out there now

I also have an '06 G35x, and have had the funky exhaust/brake burning clutch like smell since brand new. I have about 5500 miles on it and recently asked the dealer to check it out, and lo and behold, to my shock, they found nothing wrong.

I'd love to know what everyone else thinks it may be.

I smell it after I've parked it in my garage, the smell never seems to come in to the cabin, but its definitely more prominent after some "spirited" driving, particularly if I use the "tiptronic"

I will have the dealer check it again next service, if for nothing else but to build a record.

It's our brakes. The pad compound is made for hard driving, which gives lots of grip, and less fade when heated than normal passenger car pads, however, they don't last as long. I get the same smell when I put her back in the stable after some harder than average driving. The smell is similar to that of a clutch because the materials used in both are similar. It's not about ACCElerating, it's about DECElerating.

Absolutely normal, and nothing to worry about.

Now, Jin's troubles don't sound quite so benign. If you're getting that kind of smell when accelerating, along with the hum you're talking about, that does sound like clutch problems. Just my .02

Sorry... I got confused, thinking that you had a turbo waiting in the wings.

Wow, a month paid? That's great for you! I'm glad that they were willing to kick down some for the time you had to wait.

(Sorry if we are kinda hi-jacking your thread, Jin!)
