I have this bizzare coolant leak. No coolant leaks untill after the car warms up a bit. The leak is coming from somewhere in the back of the intake manifold (on a de motor). The coolant pours out directly onto the starter. I have taken the manifold of several times to look for the leak but found nothing. The leak is pretty massive as well. I loose almost a gallon of water if I let the motor warm up to the point where the leak starts to gush then immediatly turn the motor off. I have tried to look underneath the manifold with mirrors and even tried to find it by climbing underneath the car (which wasn't the brightest idea because of the scalding water but I was desperate). I have no idea what water line under there would be responsible. The leak really seems to have kicked in when the throttle is oppened but it could just be my imagination. If anybody has suggestions on what could be causeing this leak I would really appreciate it. The starter and the support for the manifold and countless other crap get in the way.

It could be the coolant hose that's between the engine and the firewallmaybe one is loose or has a hole in it

doent the factory manifold have passages for coolent? is you intake gastget its self fine? your probably looking for a really small hole or crack if it doesnt leak untill the system is pressurized, you might be able to try the penitrating dies used for finding cracks from an autoparts store.

I read something about a coolant screw to bleed the system as well. Where is that located is it somewhere torwards the back end of the manifold. Or is it somewhere easy to see.

Attached is a picture of the coolant path for the DE. The connections thru the firewall to the heater core are plastic and break easily: check those first. There will be two hoses of similar size, a few inches apart, connecting to the firewall.

One of those hoses goes to the engine block. The other will connect close-by, to the rear of the intake manifold.

Second, take a look at the circled area. A hose runs between the top/bottom runners from the throttle body to the rear of the manifold. Since you said it leaks onto your starter, it's in this general area.
