Functional bike roof rack for the hatch

I know this has been covered a million time but it seems like it wwas just the cool thing to do then, Im looking for real info or experience on the best rack that would fit and let the hatch still open. Now, Before you decide to be a d1ck and knock on it, My 10 year old son helps me with my 240 and he also has one of his own that hes been learning on.. We like the ride bikes together so why not combine both interests.
