Hey its been awhile since I last posted here. Just wanted to let everyone know that I had a bad couple of weeks here in Alabama. My car was damaged badly (still can drive) by the tornados on 4/27. Just came from Allstate and they are going to total my baby. We were at $3k in damages and the adjuster didn't even make it to the other side of my car. I should hear something within 72hrs with their offer. My baby had 256k on her...I JUST got the seats restored and conditioned. Not one single tear!! Anyway, I'm hoping to get $3k. The adjuster was amazed of how well I kept the car. I'll be selling the keyfob shortly after I get the check.

I'm looking for another cash luxury car. I'm not going to deal with Infiniti's anymore. They don't hold their value worth a crap! I'm looking at the 98-03 Lexus GS300 and the 98-01 Lexus 400, two great cars that are still holding their value. I could go the car payment option, but I'll rather pay for something that's cheaper with cash. I was thinking of maybe going with a 00-01 Q45, but I think I want another thrill. I'm about to sign up for the Club Lexus forum since they have a lot of traffic/info there and ask questions about both cars. Both are very reliable and I haven't heard really anything bad at all. Can any of you recommend me anything else?

Damn sorry to hear about your car but at least you're ok. A car can be replaced..As far as other luxury cars go that are not in the nissan/infiniti family would definitely be the Lexus LS400. In my opinion one of the best looking japanese big bodys there is(aside from the Q45 of course) Whatever your next project may be good luck with it.

Go for the 98+ LS400, it is a huge, huge, did I mention HUGE upgrade over the 97-01 q45.....like stepping up 1 or 2 entire classes of cars. Excellent reliability, durability, build quality, and even a little quicker to boot along with much better ride quality and a better thought out suspension for a superior ride. Maybe the tornado will prove a blessing in disguise regarding the car at least !!!

Sorry about your misfortune, but considering the condition and ignoring the mileage, the car sounds more like a $5K car. Maybe you can part out?

Lexus have their problems too, not to mention the timing belts. For me, all of those cars are real snoozers. Unfortunately, after 2000 especially, corners were cut by everyone. The mid 90's Japanese were the best built ever. But let us know on which car you decide. I hope it makes 256K miiles before it is also destroyed. Glad you made it out alive.

Personally, if I could find another FGY33, in good shape, I would be all over it. Truly bullet proof.

The car was great. I was able to get $4k for my car. The insurance company tried to lowball me and offer me $2.5 but I told them to go back to the drawing board and try again. I just bought a super maintained 2002 lexus GS300 with 78k miles. Paid cash for car. I had to jump all on it. The lexus GS/LS are basically bulletproof. The only major thing you have to do is replace the timing belt and pump around 100k.

My FGY33 was a great reliable car but I needed a different change this time around. I'm looking to sell the key fob and the FPCM which is just a year old, bought it May 2010....will start a new thread to seek interest.

Even though your Q is gone, you still gotta swing by and drink a beer while in Atlanta.
