Had another great weekend with the Audi folks at VIR. Great weather again both days.
I think this is going to be the last event of the season but I'm being leaned on to do Daytona in early December. Hmmmmmm.

Anyway. Plenty of awesome cars as always including some good Nissan representation for a change. I had a student in a red 2003 350Z, there was a gentleman in the advanced group with a very clean 240sx. Plus a stock GTR.
I also had a student in a sweet caged 1987 Audi Coupe GT. Off to the pics! The couple action shots are courtesy of another Audi member

nice old BMW 2002tii. Pretty quick car but it smoked when the owner tromped on it.

The 240SX . owner was really nice.

Ariel Atom spec racer. VIR has deal with Ariel and hosts a series of spec races.

One of several R8's. This one was parked beside me in the paddock.

plenty of mustangs in attendance, both modded and stock:

fairly new Mitsu belongs to a friend. He usually brings a Maserati grandsport but it got totalled. He also owns a car carrier similar to mine.

his car carrier:

one of many Exige S''s.

Gorgeous "retired" Ferrari 430 cup challenge racer. the owner switched away from carbon-ceramic brakes and went to more traditional ones.

The Ferrari at speed coming onto the main straight

our chief instructors Baby Grand. think half sized nascar looking car with a motorcycle engine. Yamaha power. Very quick.

Image

little BMW M, what was interesting was that the entire front end (and trunk) were switched to carbon fiber.

interesting high end kit car, with a "corvette" motor stuffed in it. Fiberglass body. Owner was coy about its power, but it was extremely fast, and broke a half shaft.

My student's 1987 Audi Coupe GT. nicely set up

Image

nice mid 90's S6, last of the great Audi sedans. This one had a nice roll bar.

Image

Yep a brand new Boss 302 Laguna Seca. Owner told me it had 2000 miles on it. Sweet car. A Ford I wouldn't mind owning...
Image

potent trio of white porsche's: A twin turbo 996, a GT-3 and a GT-2.
.
Image

My friend's 996 twin turbo. That's my Z in the background. I was surprised, he normally brings a 944 turbo, but it was being fixed.

We were in the same run group, he didn't have too much trouble reeling me in.... :)

obligatory short of the ol' Bubbarian Z...

If anyone is interested, the next Audi VIR event is in April. I'm ready now.

Alton VA. It's on the Virginia-NorthCarolina border toward the middle of the state.
VIR is one of the nicest race tracks in the east.

 :frown:

Every Grand Sport owner I've ever met has been really cool, and a down-to-earth car guy. Not what I expected from an exotic driver...even a "lower end" exotic like the little Maser.

I wish the Grand Sport had gotten the old 3200GT's boomerang lights...

I loved it too. His tow vehicle also has a clever German theme license plate. It's a Porsche Cayenne Turbo and it's licence plate says "pfeffer". :chuckle:

Unfortunately no, he was in a run group in which I had no students.

Darn. Hopefully you get to drive or teach in one in the near future. I'm looking forwards to hearing some first hand experiences and impressions.

Yeah, same here. There have been many attendees in newer mustangs lately, so I think it's just a matter of time before I get my hands on one. :dblthumb:
