Hey all. Finally unpacked my camera after a fun two days at Summit Point Raceway. The Audi club had two one-day HPDE's there. 1st day was a beginner school on the Jefferson circuit. 2nd day was a all-level school on Summit Main.
For those unfamiliar with Summit Point, it's a nice road race track (3 circuits)in West Virginia but only 90 minutes from Baltimore/WashDC, between Harper's Ferry WV and winchester va.

Combine wonderful students with a nice track, friendly staff, and nice weather, and it was one of the great weekends for an enthusiast.

Here are a few pics:

Interesting mix of vehicles in the summit main paddock, My Z, a pair of 1992 MR-2 turbo's, an R8 V10, an exige, and a nice old porsche 911.

Obligitory shot of my flatbed in the Jefferson paddock. My Z is behind the truck, but there was a student with a red Z too. Yep, some people there with good taste.

Interior shot of one my Jefferson student cars: A Porsche "912 RS". Interesting car, that he built. It's an 80's 911 body/chassis caged with harnesses , but if you open the hood..er trunk.. there's a shiny 4 cyl engine, just like the old porsche 912's of the 60's. It was not fast but surprising agile.(nicely done build)

The 912 RS motor...

The exterior. It was a father/son team, the son drove an A4 Avant.

A nice Porsche racecar coming onto the main straight of Jefferson:

There were a few interesting motorcycles in the paddock too. This one caught my eye. It's an early-mid 60's Honda 300. Gorgeous bike.

Nice old Audi. Well, it was an Audi event...

Interesting mix of vehicles at the beginner school. A nice Subie, a few mini's, the white car was a new S5, even a couple of stock hondas.

A former students car, it's a sleeper. It's an Audi 4000 Quattro (not known for it's blazing speed), but this one has 400+ hp. Car is nicely set up, driver is quick.

Image

nice 335d (diesel baby). I only got to ride around the skid pad in it. Nice car.

A friend of mine showed up with a brand new S4.

My friend's exige. It's only had a few suspension mods. Verrry good driver, very quick.

One of my other students drove a nice VW Golf TDi. yep, diesel. I was surprised how torquey and competent it was. the student drove it like he stole it, and still got 18mpg. (I'm lucky to get 6mpg in the 350z on track). To hell with hybrids, diesels rock.
my third student drove a sweet new BMW 135i. Not an M, but what a beautifully balanced car. His was an automatic with the paddles, but it still was a hoot.

The next Audi school for me is November at VIR. If anyone is interested in driving their car on track there, I'd be happy to post a link.
