Sorry if a similar thread has already been made, but I'm really tired and don't feel like searching ><Anyway, I was just wondering what roads are fun to drive around the southern California area (like twisty/makes-you-sweat roads). I drive an FX35 and I want to test the limits on my car (and to test the limits on my friend's brand new LanEvo IX). I tried a few canyon passes off the PCH-Malibu area and Sunset Blvd around Beverly Hills. Just looking for more funner, longer areas to drive. Any help will be greatly appreciated

There's glendora mountain road/mt baldi, trabuco canyon & santiago canyon road (if you want higher speed cruise/sweepers), etc, etc. Then there's Angeles Crest that will probably kill you if you push too hard.

Also, there's autox days/track days that may "seem expensive" but is much safer, legal, and will cost less in the long run (i.e. you crash in a mountain and that is enuf to autox a lifetime).

autox is pretty cheap...If you dont have 40 bucks to spend, then you definatly dont have enough to afford the fees(crashes/tickets) that WILL catch up to you from street/canyon racing. I have a few friends who spend a good amount of time doing canyon runs, and their cars definatly show it.

But since you are gonna just do it anayways dont be lazy..Get out there and drive, Most people (myself included) will be hesistant to give away there favorite roads, its not something you want to call any extra attention to. Half the fun is finding the roads your self though....

speaking of which... you may want to go during the day time... avoid weekends like the plague - unless you feel like not leaving til 2-3am since ppl are continuously going up and down certain roads and you have to wait for it to clear before coming back down... also, cops know about all the popular ones - good thing (or not) that you have an FX, which is much less likely a car that is seen in the canyons and that will be profiled as "racing". Pack a couple bags for camping gear and such in the back as your alibi. .

But yea, try autox first - there is one coming December 10 - lots of nissans (240's in particular) will be rolling out for this one - check http://www.solo2.com. Hope to see you there - at the track that is, it would be really nice to see how well an FX driver would do in person.

Thanks for the help guys. I just got back from Angeles Crest Hwy. I've never enjoyed driving so much as I did an hour ago. And, I didn't know an SUV was capable of some of the sh*t I did. However, the extreme amount of concentration required made me extremely exhausted when I got back down.I agree that finding the roads myself is much more satisfying, but I just gave up after spending a few weeks looking for fun passes that last for a long time. Plus, I don't mind at all if you guys don't share your personal favorites. Just the well-known ones are fine. I'd hate for the unknown good ones to be overrun by a buncha' random people ><But once again, thanks guys
