Full Tune Up and still Slow....WTF????

Hey guys just to let you know...its a 93 240 w/ Ka24de motor

Mods are ....IntakeHeader2.5 in exhaustlightweight pulleyE-fanJWT ECU upgrade

Lately, my car has been real sluggish and powerless, so i gave it a tune-up about a week ago (plugs,wires,cap,rotor,fuel filter, O2 sensor) and its still slow and sluggish.

I know 240s in general are not fast but with these upgrades my car was not that bad. To put in perspective, as of right now, a stock 96 240 with the ka motor keeps up with me....

Anyone know what i could try next?

P.S- are the timing marks on the Unorthodox pulley accurate?

check the fuel pump, is there any sort of hesitation while accelerating?

Also see if your fuel filter is clogged up or not.

^ dont think its the fuel pump.

i bet your timing got screwed up, double check that.

and what is the tune doing for you exactly?

i changed the fuel filter during the tune-up ....guess u missed that?

the pump is still good i believe...no hesitations.

its not really a tune....just upgraded maps i beleive and rev limiter/top speed limiter is removed. I didnt notice any real gains from the ECU itself

but yet still....car is still slow

ok here we go for the timing....

i have the unorthodox crank pulley, it has the timing marks so i used a gun and timed it. When i checked it, the timing was so far advanced (according to the pulley marks) so i retarded the timing to the 20btdc mark and the car barely ran and sounded terrible. So i advanced a little more then a little more until i was in the same spot as before.

If i had to guestimate what im at right now according to the unorthodox pulley marks...my timing is no joke around 30-35 degrees right now and it runs better there than anywhere before there. I dont want to advance it anymore although there is still slightly more room to advance it but i dont wanna risk it.

go get a couple of cans of brake cleaner... turn the car on and let it idle.. then start spraying the lines with the clean.. if the idle chances then there is you leak.

if there is a vac leak somewhere you should NOT hear a swoosh sound when you open the gas cap if you do then it should be ok

um yea tru, that sound from the gas cap is pressure being released...who told you it was vaccume leak related?

ok so ill spray some cleaner tomor but i dont think thats the problem, ill try timing again.

can you guys think of anything else?

check you MAFS. its possible that its bad and the ecu is just trying to keep your car running, poorly.

Why is everyone ignoring the obvious timing issue with the pulley? That's the problem, bro.

I think someone installed a head gasket on it sometime in the past and didn't know how to re-align the cams and timing chain correctly with the crank sprocket.

well that is what we did we were looking for a vaccum leak on my single cam.. and fyi it worked,

WAIT... nvm.. now that i think about it, we were looking for a leak in the intake tubing.. not a vaccum leak..... OOPS!!

i had to make a custom pipe from the intake plemnum to the tubing( because on the single cam, the pipe likes to rot away) and we thought it was leaking and we sprayed brake cleaner on the pipe to see if it was leaking...

i really dont know to be honest with you. i dont even own a 240 right now...
