On an 01 VQ30DE with VAIS has anyone ever bypassed the vacuum actuator to keep the VAIS open full time? Can be done easily with a piece of wire. Will this add to my HP?

I may be wrong, but I believe VIAS is kept closed at low end to keep the torque curve up. As speed increases, VIAS opens to allow more airflow.

Keeping it open all the time may not be something you want to do if you launch your car on slicks at a strip and can fully hookup. If you have crazy wheel spin on launch, then losing a bit of torque would not really hurt at all. Removing the VIAS rod assy itself instead of simply "forcing it open" would be needed to increase high-rpm acceleration >5k.
