I pumped in a full tank of gas and the gas needle seems to rise only up to about the 3/4 mark. What could be the issue? Please help. Thanks!

Mine does the exact same thing. I bought the car not running, needed a fuel pump - and it was doing this ever since I got it running. (which was only a few minutes :D)

I've since had the pump out a couple of times and checked the float and verified it wasn't touching anything etc, sometimes it goes close to full, other times it only reaches 3/4.

Maybe something with the actual gauge itself?

my car is almost the same, but about 1/4 off. so i run out of gas before the light comes on, which SUCKS! not sure how i can fix it. i was thinking either unplug cluster when gauge reads full, then go filling the car up and reinstalling the gauge. not sure if that would do what im wanting of if ill have to do something with the float.

My 91 Sentra did that, except the light did come on.

When I first got the car the light came one when I hit 1/4 tank and I thought, thats annoying.

The next morning on the way to work I ran out of gas. 1/4 was basically empty. lol man that car was a gem. Insanely reliable though. I drove that in the upper north with temps that fell well below -40 celsius, started every time without being plugged in!

That won't fsck with the gauge's calibration?

if you don't have a float then it won't register the gas level. There is a relay that powers the gauge, I had to replace it in my 91 sentra because both the engine temp and fuel gauge didn't register anything. But that was a known prob with that car.

Anyways, no float, no gas level!

15 7/8 gallons for an S13, a little more for an S14 if I'm not mistaken.
