Full Tank but acts like its outta gas?

My 240 has the symptoms like its running on fumes but actually has a full tank of gas? It will stop accelerating out of no where but it always comes back in like 10 seconds. And now its idling really low like 500-700 rpm and sometimes almost dies just idling. and when idling it makes a strange noise like resembling the sound of a deisel engine. I'm not sure what going on...fuel pump, fuel filter, alternater idk?

it could be loads of things. i would probably go with fuel filter first cuz its cheap and cake to change.

not enough fuel pressure? check your fuel filter for a clog, if it's fine, check your FPR. if your car runs abnormally slow all the time, I would check the fuel pressure regulator first.

if it happens once in awhile or when you're at WOT, maybe check your TPS and see if it has a "flat spot" in it.

Check the Mass Air Flow sensor connection by holding it down.Check the fluids in the car such as engine oil and steering fluid.Mine kept stalling randomly until I fixed the MAF connection.I fixed the stall on idle by putting in steering fluid. (I think there's a leak)

+1 w/ the fluids Can you hear your lifters? I just had the diesel sounding engine problem and it was a sever lack of oil.

I'd also try getting some fuel injector cleaner...I just had this problem, it's not a permanent fix, but it buys ya some time until you can afford to replace injectors.

Check the fuel injectors... Mine did the same thing and it turned out to be a fuel injector that was going in and out.
