Have new '08 G35X. I have read that Nissan does NOT recommend using full synthetic, but I can find no reference to it in the manual. SO:

1) OK or not?

2) If not, why and what is the recommended oil?

THANKS

Full synthetic is fine ... although I would not make the switch till after 7500 miles of a good dino oil. I use Mobil 1 Full Synthetic 0W-40, but there are plenty of other good ones. Choose your brand based on your own preferences ...!

Most importantly, wemember to do an oil (and filter) change at 150 to 300 miles, 1750 miles, 3750 miles and every 3750 thereafter, and life will be good with your engine! This sounds expensive and over-kill, but is good cheap insurance, IMHO.

BTW, alo in my opinion, as long as you change your oil (and filter!) every 3750 miles or less, then you can use any good brand of 5W-30 oil ... even dino (like Chevron Supreme or Castrol GTX) and be perfectly fine! The interval is far more important than the particular oil, as long as the oil weight is correct.
