I haven't tried it, but the hatchback doesn't look like it will fit a full size spare.

It sure looks like a full size spare would fit in the sedan. I am ready to do my first tire rotation and if I think about it, I will see if one of the tires would fit where the spare sits (sedan).

Thanks I would appreciate it. I switched out my steel wheels for some rims and now that I have them in my closet. I figure for about $40 I could stick a tire on it and have a full sized spare.

Everyone tells me that those are a waste of time but the way I figure when my tire goes out I might need to ride a few days before I can get it changed.

My last car had a full-size matching wheel for a spare and when i picked up a wood screw one day i simply switched tires. A few weeks later when I had time I used my lunch hour to get my tire fixed. It is infinitely more convenient, especially when you are as lazy as I am.

Today, I rotated my tires and when I had one of the tires off the car, I placed it in the area where the spare tire fits. It fits, and does not protrude above the floor. I put the floor back in, upside down, so the little flimsy foam rubber blocks wouldn't hit the full size tire, and it goes all the way back down. I then pressed on the floor, and it turns out a full size spare would provide an added benefit of supporting the wimpy thin plastic floor.

The only problem I could see is the bolt that holds the temp spare to the floor is not long enough to engage the threads when the full size tire is in there. If you weren't concerned about not securing the full size tire, this wouldn't be a problem.

There is still plenty of room for the jack and other odds and ends to store below the floor.

Well if it's any help, the Australian Tiida brochure simply lists the spare as a steel wheel. They usually mention if it's a space saver, since our roads are so bad this is VERY important to alot of people.

I can confirm that the Australian Delivered Tiida has a full sized spare wheel. Mine has a full sized spare however its not alloy, just the steel one from the base model is carried across the whole range as a spare.
