Post

This weekend I want to get Q brakes since my rear calipers leak like thats their real job. Their about to get fired.....

Ive been reading about this for like 2-3hrs and Im trying to compile a list of all the 240sx/J30/300zx/Q45 rear subframe parts interchange. OMG theres so much. If you have something to contribute to that PM me I suppose. I'll get to that later this week.

I know I need the Q caliper, bracket, rotor, ebrake assembly, b13 ebrake cable (from a drum car 91-93) and then it bolts on correct? OR do I need the hub or w/e you call the part that the strut bolts to.

The complication is I want to keep my 4 lug rims and my Kaaz 2 way. Theres some conflicting info about the hub but it seems like I can just bolt the actual brake parts using my 240 hub (if thats what you call the rear shock mount piece) and spindle (if thats what you call the part the bearing and 4 lug part mount too). Is this correct or do I need a specific hub to get this to work in one shot?

To paraphrase my friend, "always do all you can in advance to ensure sucess" or in simpler terms planning makes things easier. So I appricate any help and you will be credited in my writeup.

You should get the backing plate from the Q45 also, it has a mounting stud and the hole for the e-brake cable to get to the drum style parking brake. The B13 Sentra drum cables do work, as I am using them, but they require modification to fit... check into some R33 Skyline e-brake cables for true bolt in.

You can keep your 4 lug setup with redrilled Q45 rotors, but you will need to remove the axle nut and hub from the rears to get those backing plates installed. there is also a big post and nut that you need from the Q45 upright that needs to be put into the 240sx upright to keep the brake assembly from spinning in the hub.

Ok very good. Im fine with the sentra cables, skyline cables will go on my clean shell Im building up, this is the "yea that'll work" car. Looks like I'll br going Ka-t for less then a grand. Oooh I havn't posted my junkyard engine dampener...I'll go do that.

One thing is can you use the J30 drum ebrake for this swap too? My buddy needs to get a set because he has skyline/z32 calipers and the ebrake and 5 lug swap is stopping him. I'll go search bc Im not lazy but any one with hands on experiance is better then "I heard...."

Thanks~Alex
