about two weeks ago i bought an 03 g35, so of course being me i swapped out the factory airbox for a cold air induction (k&n) and replaced the factory muffler with a stainless resonator style muffler. my question now is that since i decided to order some longtube megan headers and plenum spacer.... im probably gona need a tune to maximize the effiency of my performance gains. any suggestions? also id like to know if my fuel economy will drastically decrease due to tuning? if infact i do need 1? and is the kinetix upper intake a waste or should i get it before tune?

any input is appreciated, thanks
tony

Welcome to NICO! If it was my car, I'd do all the breathing mods first, then do the tune. Headers will not get you very much in terms of power...money would be better spent on a pair of high flow CATS and a CAT-back system. (with the sedan, you could also go with the Coupe mid-pipe and an axle-back system). I'm not a fan of oil-type air filters...better off with a dry-type. R2C makes a great intake! 5/16 motordyne spacer is recommended over the kinetix...cheaper and you can keep the engine cover; they do the same thing.

As for you MPGs, it will actually go up with these mods...but the car will sound much better and you'll have a hard time keeping off the throttle ;)

in terms of tuning, how will that work... will any ol dynoshop be able to just plug in and plAy with the map or do i need a specific tuner or software. in terms of the headers, i just thought since the car will only stay naturally aspirated for maybe the next 8-9 months. ill be goin with a stillen twin screw or a vortech setup. how about the kinetix stainless ssv intake? i guess i just wana leave the car prepped with full intake and headers.... ive heard good things about the ssv? whats ur take joe? thanks.

Most people now lean towards UpRev for tunes. They have certified shops which can perform custom tunes for your car and I'm sure they come pre-programmed with base updates dependent on your upgrades. Someone with a UpRev will need to step up for other questions as I'm running Cobb.
