Hey Nicos, i was wondering for a 1997 q45 what kinda differential oil do you guys recommend using? also for an oil change how many quarts does the motor take? I was wondering for the motor mounts where do you guys purchase them? or any oem infiniti part for that matter. What spark plugs do you guys recommend using? i remember reading an article about some plugs aren't good for the v8 motors. I've been searching for some info for a while now i can't seem to find a direct answer. I've search the repairs info facts threads and nothing.

i recently purchased the car @116k what do you guys recommend as far as a tune up? or somethings i should check out that might possibly need replacing.

Oh and one more thing, how do i go about turning off the tcs abs lights?

t.i.a.

Welcome, you will like this car. I have had my 97' for 10 years and counting. So it holds about 6 quarts of oil, mine usually takes a good 6 when the oil filter is changed and the mechanic gives it time to drain. As for the motor mounts, surpirsed you need them but get OEM. Infiniti of Scotsdale (aka IOS, so a search) have good deals and worth mail ordering them. Plus, order from Scotsdale also, NGK OEM ONLY, no Bosch or anything else....they create more damage then good.

Now, as for you mileage, I would plan to flush EVERYTHING and replace all fluids with synthetic, transmission specially, but also consider brake fluid, diff and power steering. You can get the gear oil weight at any shop that sells good quality stuff. Mobile One at the least, Redline or Amsoil if you can find it. Those I believe are the best, but Mobile syn will do. Also, if the tie rod ends have not been done (check receipts) those are toast and you might want to order them too.

Good luck feel free to ping us with more questions.

Please excuse my spelling and grammar lol.

yes! finally some good info. thank you very much badq45t with quick response, i really appreciate that. i had a few people tell me that a transmission flush does more damage then it does good? maybe you can point me in the right direction on how to go about that? for brake fluid im planning to upgrade the front brakes to zbrakes so ill flush that out and get some ss lines. For the rear diff is there a certain grade to get (for exp. 5w30)? As for the tie rod ends im holding off until i get a few extra bucks so i can do the s13/s14 suspension swap. it seems to be the best way to go about getting new struts on the car being mine are shot, plus i want to lower the car a bit. Unless somebody knows of a better solution to lowering the car that isn't so high priced.

Just to give you guys a bit of backround on me and introduce myself. My name is Danny, 23 years old live in So. cal and currently a student. I worked on hondas for about 7 years and this is my first rwd car. I've done motor swaps and suspension upgrades engine overhauls so when it comes to wrenching i feel im pretty hadny. I've owned 6 1996-98 honda civic hatchbacks within the 7 years. so now being that i own a Q now everything is so new to me i just want to make sure i get everything done right and done the first time. Right now i love this car even though it hurts my pocket at the pump, but can't really hate the fact of what this car offers for the price i paid.

Now that you guys kinda have an idea. here are some future plans for the car. i want to take care of all the repairs and maintenance first. i already have a set of 19x9 - 19x10.5 iforge emotions. lower the car and repaint. still debating about a kit for the car you guys have any inputs?

well, i think that pretty much sums it up. looking forward to learning a lot from this forum seems like a great place to be. oh btw, im sorry if this isn't the correct place to intro myself but i figured since i made this thread i don't wanna make another one and waste space! haha

Do you have the owner's manual? Most of your answers are located there. If you don't have it, consider this link a gift http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/ it has your manual for free to look at. Synthetic fluid is great but not exactly needed. I have used syn fluid in my transmission, motor, and power steering fluid. 6qts is a lot for this motor, I usually do 5.5qts, since that is what the manual states.

Now, as far as your tcs and abs lights on at the same time, do a search here and you should find the answer to that. You have purchased a car with a problem because those lights are not suppose to be on at all times.
