1996 S14 chassis w/CA18det. My wiring harness to the engine is intact but the rest of it is dissected into almost all individual wires. Obviously the simplified wiring guides posted everywhere do not help me in the engine bay. I have spark. Engine is spinning. I can hear the fuel pump cut on but it does not cut off after 3 sec. I am getting ecu code 13. I have a downloaded FSM for the chassis but the wiring diagrams have no colors on them. It looks as though the black/pink wire goes from the fuel pump to the relay to the junction to the engine bay near the battery. What is it connecting to at that point. There is a small connector where it terminates. Is it going to power or switched power or the fuse box or something completely unexpected? I also have a black/pink coming off the ecu toward the engine bay and I suppose the fuel pump relay is here in the S13 chassis. If you're going to say something unhelpful (ie: ask the KA24 boards or what happened to your old harness or "do a search"), please don't bother to post.

Thanks in advance!

ok, what exactly is the problem. it wont start? or does it run but the fuel pump is staying on when you turn the key on? i doubt it should matter if the fuel pump keeps running because if the regulator is doing its job it will just keep recirculating unneeded fuel back into the tank. you should still be able to get the car to start, though there is a distinct possibility it would run like crap. I imagine you can find a s14 fsm with some color markings cant you? i find it very hard to imagine the s13 one has colors listed and the s14 doesnt.

Most of the links to FSMs that you find on most sites are dead links.

The problem is that the engine won't start. It is turning though.

so you are getting spark, the fuel pump is running.. is the fuel making it to the combustion chambers? how is the timing? also, make sure you have grounded the hell out of the engine.

Put a long screwdriver with the metal end on an injector and the other handle end in your ear. If you hear clicking, then the injectors are working, if not then power isnt being supplied to the injectors.

Are you using a resistor for the injectors?

This sounds like an electrical problem to me....

I made my own resistor pack and it ohmed out fine. I will try the screwdriver trick.

I haven't messed with the timing at all.

Thanks.

Does anyone out there have a full s14 wiring diagram w/ the colors?

you may want to try in the 240gen forum. i usually feel its pointless but someone might help you out.

if you have fuel and spark, try the timing.

I tried the screwdriver trick and I couldn't hear the injectors for the sound of the engine and there was no fuel in my cylinders. I also noticed that my fuel gauge was pegged at the top but I don't have half a tank of gas.

I'm trying to think of anything that might be wrong. I was searching for ecu number and it seemed like everyone either had a 79 or 98 or 99. I have a 51. does this mean anything or is it the small numbers that make the difference.

Also, does anyone have injectors to sell for a rwd ca18det?

My injectors are solid black with purple connectors. Is this specific to a certain model/ year?

This will make 5 months that I've been trying to get this car running.

The only CA AT/MT ecu codes are 64, 65, 98, 99, 78, and 79

zerothread?id=242286

I have a CA that wont start either, I know the only reason it wont start is that the injectors arent firing. -Trevor
